The Synclavier was also a sampler (among other things) And it could be a sound based on a sample resynthesis (something the Syncvavier was also capable of). Since I don't which sound you are talking about, I cannot say anything else. Maybe there is a source somewhere where they talked about that.ghostwhistler wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 9:26 amAFAIK TD used the synclavier. It wasn't a sample of that sound they used.fmr wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 8:55 amIt should be able to recreate it up to a point of you being unable to identify which is which. But if the TD sound resides on a sample, or a resynthesized sample, then you will have a hard time doing it unless you have access to that sample.ghostwhistler wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 8:03 am How close could this synth get to recreating the Synclavier gong sound (specifically the version used on Kiew Mission by Tangerine Dream)?

That's what Program Data is there for, isn't it? It isn't that hard to make Program Data visible (that's one of the first things I do).Mr Arkadin wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 9:15 am Some even use the ProgramData folder (which is hidden by default in Windows).
Good luck with that They aren't even able to come up with a common plug-in format, but they will agree with each other about the place where to put files... Of courseMr Arkadin wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 9:15 am We need a MIDI-style consortium of music manufacturers to get together and decide on one standard.

In the case of a single user system, Programdata would be the place for factory presets. Users/All Users for personal presets. AFAIK the latter location is rarely used by software, for that purpose.
When multiple users are using the same system, there's Users/*/Documents or Users/*/Appdata, for personal presets.

if the next update could simply fix how it duplicating each presets from a sound bank, I'd be more than happy... you can't even properly hear a sound bank unless you select the presets from the bottom going up... well, unless you manually click on each preset.. I rather use the up and down arrows on the keyboard though.

Here are a handful of sounds I've made for the SQ80V. The sounds are taken from the soundset A Frozen Moment in Time to be officially released next week, but here they are, a bit early.
What a fantastic synthesizer SQ80V is.
Easily one of my top 5 synths.

I really appreciate that Arturia went all out on the effects in the SQ80V, especially being able to process two taps separately is incredibly useful. Absolutely one of my new favourite synths.

Has anyone been able to get the old 'Technosis' banks (ESQ-1 and SQ-80) successfully imported into SQ-80 V ?
I can't get them to work (and I've successfully imported many other sysex banks): every individual bank file, after import, shows up as a single preset.

Thanks for pointing these out (I am new to SQ-80) and didnt know of these. I found a download http://ericmorello.com/ensoniq-esq-1-patches/ on that site. The zip has a them in various formats. I imported from the lowest folder in the zip called "for SQ80" and have pulled in the first two banks of 40: Master Patch A SQ80.SYX and Master Patch B SQ80.SYX. All 80 patches came in with no errors. There are 5 more banks in that zip. I am not familiar with what all should be in the Technosis banks - but the patches in these zipped files are coming into SQ80 V.. without error (and sounds great).mholloway wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 11:37 pm Has anyone been able to get the old 'Technosis' banks (ESQ-1 and SQ-80) successfully imported into SQ-80 V ?

Hmm I think the SQ-80 patches work, but it's the ESQ-1 patches that don't import successfully. Plenty of other ESQ banks import just fine into SQ-80 V though, so it's strange...jdoo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 4:38 am

I imported the ESQ-1 patches (first couple or banks) - but the patches inside them are duplicates of the SQ-80 patches from the same download? At least from the zip I grabbed in ericmorello's site. Anyway, thanks again. There are some very good patches in this collection.

Cool bank. Arturia really did a good job with the SQ-80 V.DrGonzo wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 4:33 pm Here are a handful of sounds I've made for the SQ80V. The sounds are taken from the soundset A Frozen Moment in Time to be officially released next week, but here they are, a bit early.
This is off-topic, but I noticed in your signature that you are "sampler fanatic" who owns a bunch of classic hardware samplers. Except for the Emax I, I owned all of the same samplers. I used them for everything including sampling my hardware synths (MKS-80, MKS-70, MKS-50, Matrix-1000, and Oberheim Xpander).
I posted in the Sound Design forum a question whether anyone knows more about the sampling / production techniques of Alan Wilder of Depeche Mode. If you have any information regarding his sampler-based productions, please let me know.
Thanks!

now if only that duplicate preset issue would get resolved.
