I am a bit confused with the Platinum update. In general Waves upgrades are a bit strange for example they will not count a plugin you have on another bundle if the whole bundle is not included to what you want to upgrade to. That of course leads to a cheaper way sometimes to WUP some plugins. Ah well..

Some time ago I got all these waves plugins and bundles (below) (bunldes are -) from a kvr member for almost 180eu which I think was an amazing price. (And yes I checked with waves beforehand that they were bought in a legit way). All of them have WUP until December 2021. And I am on Windows not on a Mac.

The Platinum update for me would cost me $29. And that is the recommended update from (Renaissance Bass, Gold, Masters,
Renaissance Vox, MaxxVolume, PuigTec EQs, LoAir, MetaFilter). And I guess it will extent the WUP for these.
It says it will add the following. Not sure if I am bothered apart from reducing the WUP I guess? How much is the WUP for Platinum?

the WUP ratchets up quite quickly to the one-system max with the bundles. unless you’re stoked about getting those plugins, I’d leave it as v13 is out now so any updates needing active WUP won’t come for a while - and there will doubtless be other big sales on bundles that are more attractive. They may even, one day, think about making WUP less onerous as it gets a bit daft to be in the situation where it can be way cheaper to buy a bundle again instead of WUPing the one you have.

Well for some reason instead of covering WUP until Dec 2022... it decides to cover it until July 2023 and I have no option to change this.

ah, I've had that one - where you've got products with different WUP expiry dates. I think they've changed the rules. I might have misremembered but I think they used to extend it to the furthest date essentially for free - now they make you pay for the "extra" months.

I decided not to extend the one that pushes the date out, figuring that waiting for it all to lapse eventually deals with the problem (and when I finally get around to WUPing again - maybe).

Almost certain if you go through the list of your plugins to be WUP'ed, you'll find that you have two of the same plugin somewhere in the list. Uncheck one of the duplicates and their quote will be reduced to the cap. It could also be you have some for which WUP hasn't yet expired, which would explain why they are pushing out to July 2023.

None of my stuff has expired. But I removed those two One Knob freebies from this year that their WUP was up until July 2022 and it all went back to 240 bucks.

I remember drooling over some of these Waves plugins included in Platinum 15 years ago. They sure were the bees knees back then but not now. The platinum bundle should stay at $99, it's not worth more than that and this whole WUP business doesn't help either, it's a pass from me.

My Platinum upgrade was coming in at $71 due to some freebies I had from the past, and despite my better judgment I was tempted. This discussion has reminded me why I don't do Waves. Thank you.

Glad I held off the Waves upgrade, too. It seems it is automatically registered to your account and the WUP clock starts ticking as soon as you purchase.
