Biome_Digital wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 10:10 am What does it lack for basses?
As others have mentioned, FM other than sine, plus other audio rate modulation options. Every time I was trying to get a bass patch right, after a lot of experimenting it was always the Phaseplant versions that made the grade, and the Falcon patches sounded too basic. Falcon would be fine for more analog-ish basses, but I tend to go for more aggressive sounds.

I've found Falcon very good for setting up pads or bell-like patches that have variation, or interesting randomness, by both randomising attributes at the keygroup level, and by layer cycling. It also allows for quite sophisticated control of panning.
I've not really tied dubstep basses in Falcon yet as I am working on more ambient/film score pack. I don't know how good the wavetables are in Falcon for hard basses, but you might get better results from importing wavetables from serum/phaseplant/massive, ect..

As far as programming/workflow goes, once I learned the hierarchy, there was no problem with Falcon. Pretty logical and straightforward, actually. I prefer the workflow to some other synths, like Synthmaster, for example. It's definitely nowhere near as fast, intuitive, or easy to program as Pigments, but that's because the options with keygroups, layers, and keyboard mapping is so vast.

The other point I like to raise is that the workflow of ANY synth has an effect on the outcome of a sound, from a sound design perspective. That's why I would probably use Serum or Phaseplant for hard bass, and Falcon for more layered stuff. :)

Falcon accomplishes just about everything I could ever want in a soft synth and then some! I’ve literally replaced all other software synths I previously used quite effortlessly and feel rather confident with all the expansions, adding vintage vault 3 and keysuite bundle, plus a bunch of other libraries from UVI. All my needs are covered from vintage analog synth to modern sounding synth, grand pianos, upright pianos electric pianos, strings orchestra etc it’s all covered.

I just started building live acoustic drum kits in Falcon recently (with my own samples) and that’s been such a breeze and a hassle free process that I can now do 100% of my keyboard, synth, piano and drum programming all from Falcon. Nothing else on the market comes close in terms of what’s possible inside 1 plug-in. Workflow is super quick and intuitive and I personally love the UI and the way you navigate everything.

Place a piano arpeggio in the Convolver accessed from the equalizer section

Place a wavetable in the IReverb

Make your own wavetables

In the LFO choose Chaos Lorenz or Rossler
But tempo sync - several of them running at different tempos as modulation source for your favorite parameters

Choose (any) oscillator and modulate every parameter

Cool ideas. I haven't experimented with the convolver in these sorts of ways.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Nor I, but I shall this very instance! :D

How?
Serum, Icarus, Phase Plant all do the job.

I know how to make wavetables. He's listing things you can do in Flacon (see above). How do you make wavetables in Falcon?

That's what I though, hence my question to the poster above. I guess they meant something else.

Apple Silicon systems will no longer support native VST2. Isn't it about time for a VST3 version of Falcon?

Are you sure about that?

Yes, that's what it says here in the middle section:

You’re right though I’m sure I’ve read people claiming VST2 with native support, odd.
I suppose the only thing I can’t make out there is whether they’re saying VST2 won’t run on any DAW in native mode or just Cubase 12, as that’s what that thread topic is about.

VST2 does not run in any DAW because the VST2 SDK is simply no longer supported there. VST2 will then only work with Rosetta.
