Well I use Sonar4 for main tracking and mixing. P5 is what I use as more of an instrument and for working out ideas where audio recording is not necessary. Other than that it's just Wavelab for detailed wave editing and cd creation. That's it for "host" apps. And then there is the myriad of plugins.

Personally, I'm wondering a bit that the number of Sonar users is so much higher than the number of Cubase users.
Over here (in germany that is), I don't know anybody using Sonar personally. Yeah, a few K-v-R-ers, but as said, none of the folks I know personally is using Sonar. Most of them are using Cubase or Logic. Just like me.

There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

As you said "over here in Germany". I think you answered your own question.Sascha Franck wrote:Personally, I'm wondering a bit that the number of Sonar users is so much higher than the number of Cubase users.

Not to mention, a KVR poll is probably anything but scientificSascha Franck wrote:Personally, I'm wondering a bit that the number of Sonar users is so much higher than the number of Cubase users.

I will get a willing mod to check a few ip’s of some posts – just to make sure they don’t match. (if a willing mod can do that - and just say clean posting or not that would help)Sascha Franck wrote:Personally, I'm wondering a bit that the number of Sonar users is so much higher than the number of Cubase users.

Just a reminder post, I will be adding a similar post to each page as they come up, so everyone gets to read it. This is for the host you pull up most to get the job done.
I have left out some hosts from the list and have been kindly reminded – but I cannot edit the poll list now that the vote has started – the vote runs for five days whereby after that it will be frozen to represent a snapshot of current use in the hosts used to get a job done.
If you have a host that is not listed – please select Other and make a post indicating your vote. (if you post more than one host, the first will be counted, if its in the poll list in wont act like another vote)
At the end of the poll I will run through the threads and add up the votes for the hosts that were not in the poll list. So far votes for a lot of Logic, plus Live, Bidule, Buzz and MiniHost have been posted as part of the ‘Other’ listings.
Best regards,

I didn't see Magix on the list unless that was "Music Studio Maker".

Yuppers. Interesting though.LoRez wrote:Not to mention, a KVR poll is probably anything but scientific
I mentioned the poll over in the Sonar forums, which probably caused a spurious spike in votes for my favorite sequencer. I suspect Cubase really belongs in the first place slot... but can't bring myself to say it's better than Sonar.
I think the true results are: Cubase/Sonar/Fruity = top rank, all very popular and good products, and Tracktion = talented newcomer, catching up fast. The exact numbers probably aren't terribly significant but "big" versus "little" vote totals seem pretty reliable.
Not to say the less-used programs might not be great software. Some are. Some aren't. It's all cool.

So what should I do – shut it down now as it is – add up the votes in the posts and keep it at that – or let it run for a few days more, with the possibility of very biased results?

MAD?!?! Mad, did you say... MAD???? =@.@=ttoz wrote:87 people here using sonar =

Wait, let me adjust The Appliance. Yes, that's what you said, mad. No -- a lot of us are quite happy with it. :-) Not with every feature, maybe. But enough that it's our main tool.
I'm sure if I'd tried Cubase first I'd be just as enthusiastic about it. They're both great, just a matter of what you're used to.
Likewise for Logic if you're a Mac user. (I am soooo envious of those new synths and stuff! Nice. Very nice.)

Oh, by all means let it run!Spe3D wrote:So what should I do – shut it down now as it is – add up the votes in the posts and keep it at that – or let it run for a few days more, with the possibility of very biased results?
My apologies if I skewed things; hadn't intended that. You know how things had been going... I think the trend was pretty well set.
With luck things will get back to a more proportional representation. (Or maybe there really is a big reservoir of Sonar people, greater than I'd guessed!)
