If you're not used to this, try setting the key to your song, a whole step below, or even to other scale degrees like the perfect fifth or fourth. Heck, put it at a tritone if you want. The difference is subtle but the sweeps sound more harmonic than the default to my ears. Should you want to fine tune the frequencies, you can toggle the Continuous button at the bottom.
Though I didn't make a full custom gui, I did take the time to assign MIDI. Your mod wheel and CC74 go to cutoff, Expression and CC71 go to resonance. Finally CC70 sets the key.
Although the Altec used a third-order (18dB/oct) filter supposedly, I think this is close enough. It's definitely better than not having it at all. Try it on a spring reverb return either before or after the reverb. Rasta!
