"Is Logic Pro The Perfect DAW Or Are There Things To Improve?" is the title of my new article on the Production Expert website.
Remember, it is not a discussion whether the grass is greener on the other side, just facts about pros and also cons.

I have to comment this :
3 - Breathing "Live" Into Logic

Another big addition to Logic's capability as a DAW was the introduction of "Live Loops" in 2020. This integrated the loop-based workflow of Ableton Live directly into Logic. Many users who like that workflow now have this option without switching back and forth or buying Ableton Live.

that's false, I use ableton or bitwig to perform live acts because logic is not abble to recognise my APC40, it is not even listed in logic control surfaces preferences. that mean : no feedback clips into APC colors pads, no easy assignement for the 8 APC rotary encoders.... So this is not a viable alternative to live or bitwig, it is a different beast ! one for the studio, on for gigs on stage ...

The other glaring omission is that session clips cannot control tempo, tempo is locked to Logics timeline. This is true of DP11 as well, although DP11 supports newer Akai controllers.

I'm at work and I haven't seen the OP's video yet, but will check it out later. No DAW is perfect, not even Logic (my main DAW). Overall, I love it, but whenever I use it, I seem to constantly encounter these little annoyances that take more steps than should be necessary and could really be improved to speed up workflow. Off the top of my head, creating and rearranging buses and aux tracks is far more of a PITA than it needs to be - I like the way other DAWs simply let you create a bus from another track's output, adds it to the mixer, and lets you click+drag it wherever the hell you want to with ease and the mixer and arrange views stay in sync, and I don't want to dick around in the Environment to make things happen (it's too rigid/clumsy). Also, drag-n-drop is now becoming the standard with most DAWs, but Logic is way behind. Track folders are implemented somewhat awkwardly compared to other DAWs and I really wish there was an option to nest them at least one level. These little things just speed up workflow and make it easier to stay focused on creation. Oh, and not that this is a big deal to me, but it would be nice if it would support VST for those rare occasions when a plugin is only available in that format on a Mac (yeah, I know, never gonna happen).

^^^ On that line too, Logics iPad controller is a distinct advantage. Plus until recently it’s inability to separate MIDI input by port was a huge disadvantage to me anyway. That recent addition of by port MIDI input will have repercussions on peoples Environment setups as well. This is a fluff piece, I don’t even use Logic and I can name areas of strengths and weakness that are completely overlooked here. The only weakness according to this article is having to use the latest OS.

Before being the perfect DAW: You can not audition 32bit files in the browser nor can import them to Logic without converting them to 24bit. What's up with that?

Logic is pretty far from a perfect DAW, at least for me. Here are some reasons:
1. No Plugin search
2. No Macros
3. No Nesting "Summing Folders"
4. No Bus names in the inspector.
5. Can not Export stems with send fx
6. Not cross-platform

Yeah, Logic Remote is awesome! It's my favorite midi controller

Logic is far from perfect. It's almost there but there are things they need to really address. The browser is not good, they should take some cues from S1 and allow drag and drop plugins and effects etc.

The Library drawer is very limited. It would be nice to be able to browse all presets for all plugins in the drawer not just channel strips.

The midi transform tool is great and is one of the reasons people say Logic has one of the most complete midi workflows (in-terms of editing) however it's complex. They could simplify it a bit. S1 tools are less powerful but much easier to use and understand imo.

After all these year it would be really nice if we could re-arrange channels in the mixer. It would also be nice to be able to have multi-level packed folders. Right now you can embed a folder with a bus into another folder. I like to organize my projects based on top level busses (bass, drums, instruments, vocals, effects) and put everything into these folders. I do this in pretty much every DAW that supports it. I can get around this in Logic because it does allow a Top level non summing Folder and I can add multiple summing folders under it. Not bad but it could be better imo.

Controller support really needs to improve. Logic needs a robust scripting solution that any manufacturer can use to get smart functionality from "dumb" controllers.

Smart Controls could be better implemented with more templates and more customizability. Maybe something similar to what Reason did with the new Combinator. On that note creating combined instruments should be a bit easier more robust like S1 and their split tool. Doing something similar in Logic can get very complicated.

There are a lot of other things that they could address in Logic. Overall it's great DAW that has come a long way from the buggy messagings that was the initial release of LPX.

I sent a bug report last week, sometimes faders disapear on the ipad mixer view :o

I would also add, my imac is a powerfull 2020 gen with an 8 cores I7, 8go RAM and a SSD. Even with that power, I can see Logic UI is sluggish when I open a busy drum pattern and the linear sequencer at the same time; the playhead is jerky.
All other daws run fluently ...

Nitpicking much?

All DAW's are flawed and have something to improve, period!

You can. You need to save them first though.
Just select the triangle next to the plugin name instead of channel strip setting.

Yes. I'm aware but that is not a solution, especially when you are dealing with hundreds of plugins. The AU spec already keeps track of all presets, why do I need to go an resave all the presets as channel strip settings, that makes no sense imo.
