I'm tired of trying to justify DAW hopping. I do it a lot. It's not the DAW, it's me

I wasn't one until recently. Last year bought an M1 Macbook, then to complement it an iPhone 12. Then a watch, the Airpods, iPad Pro, iTV... I feel offended.
You have been infected by the Apple virus :lol:

Makes me look like an amateur:
2 M1 Minis, one BTO;
2 iPads;
2 iPhone 12 minis.
I was thinking about the Airpods Max, but then something vurt said made me decide against them.

Incidently, Logic runs very smoothly on my M1. And I haven't paid for 1 update since I bought it in 2013.

most of us know your strawman facking well at this point. And another tendency that's liable to be a reaction to this, you're going to basically do "YOU MAD BRO". You're reducible to a stereotype as well, & actually fitting it. Believe this, this isn't anything, it's so predictable it's anodyne. But since you asked for it...

what tf is 'Apple culture' anyway?
I know what I do, I have a computer they make, which is robust enough to do insane projects
I don't care about the other devices, it bores me utterly, a phone, a watch, an annoying af tablet. Which does have a stunning display, but it's all surfeit.
Is this addressed to me?
I'll gladly forward it to you, if you want it. :lol:

I use the airpods pro to watch TV late at night (on the Apple TV) and spatial audio is a particularly nice
feature I didn't know I needed before I started using it :) I'm really considering buying the Airpod max

I was infected in uni in the late 80's when Apple used to give huge discounts to departments and I worked on an Apple IIe and the little Mac Classic. Writing statistical formulae into Appleworks. Smart move on Apple's part. I doubt anyone from my department ever moved to PCs.

from the OP "Does the Logic pro interface/workflow better than the Studio one? Not sure if it worth the hassle."

depend on your needs but the macro architecture of S1 works perfectly with the FabFilters plugins which have their own modulators, the key is the so-called "Multi-Instrument environment" which is able to automate their own knobs while the "non-Multi-Instrument environment" ones just hide the automation of the individual plugin controls so mainly just gimmicks(the controls will have their own automation tracks)

I would say PreSonus+FabFilters together has created a pretty likable DAW

Hmm... maybe Cubase is worth a look as well then? From what I always gathered here, Studio One is not so good when you have external gear (disclaimer: I don't use any external gear, so, that's only hearsay).

The only real issue with Studio One and external gear is that you can't use a dual buffer setup with external gear, whereas a dual buffer is the default setting in Logic and you basically never have to think about it. With external gear in Studio One you're constantly turning it on and off. It also can't send/receive Sysex.

I usually see people citing Cubase's sort-of built in MIDI Librarian as a reason it's good with hardware but I really never had a use for that. I use a decent amount of external gear and found Logic worked fine for that.

I've tried Cubase and didn't understand it, it's a complex daw. With Logic it was simple, probably that's why many composers use it.
Another two things bought me are free updates and good plugins.
I spent like 500 euros on Ableton, and a year after they released Ableton 11. Same things with Waves WUP, now I'm locked with Catalina.
Studio one and Cubase update their versions too fast as well, and updates are not free. I'm not making money from music, so it doesn't make any sense to put so much money on updates. Logic seems to me pretty much a perfect package.
Probably I'll wait until the Ableton 10 will not be supported anymore in newer OSes, and then switch to Logic.
