If I add more insert effects ( instrument and some plugins) to track mini plugins on the right side will switch display to two rows. Problem is that volume and meter plugins shrink its vertical size too making them harder to use for mixing.
Volume and meter plugins are pretty bad - there is no dB number displayed with slider value after you zoom into volume plugin. Meter plugin should track peaks over longer time and display their value in dB after you zoom in. This means that you need to use VST for volume / VU meter and lose tight integration with DAW.
I would like to buy waveform pro to support company but UI still needs usability improvements. Waveform is cheap minimalist alternative DAW competing with Artist versions of big DAWs they are in the similar price range ( less then 200 USD ) and they have more fine tuned UI.
I am not against Waveform minimalistic UI design, software like Cakewalk / FL studio displays too much stuff which is taking valuable screen space on smaller notebook screen and I feel that minimalist UI will make me more productive if done right. It’s definitely hard to make good minimalist UI, waveform is not there yet it has still lot of rough edges but it has already lot of good ideas. I hope developers will focus UI changes over adding new features.
I understand that nobody really makes money from selling cheap DAW, Tracktion company makes income from selling instruments - some are pretty good ( Hyperion, F em, Collective, wave razor ) and development focus is obviously there.
Do Not shrink volume and meter plugins

You can put some of the effects in a rack, rather than having them all laid out in the strip on the right; although this does mean an additional click to open the rack when you want to make changes to the "racked" effects and/or VSTs. For instance, a VST, then a rack with all effectts, then the volume/pan should not flip to 2 rows.
... or send to another track for processing. ... or use sends to reroute things... or make the whole effects area take more of the screen by resizing that area. Or making tracks "taller" so splitting in 2 rows isn't an issue.
LOTS of alternatives !

If you display the full-sized panel on the bottom instead of the silly minimized view they made the default in the current version, selecting the plugin will display a much larger version with better control in the center of that panel.
You can also use the dedicated mixer panel.

Maybe a small scroll bar would make sense.
Have a maximum number of effects rows, say 2, then if you put in any more effects, instead of shrinking them further, a small scroll bar gets created in effects payne.
thereby retaining the height.
Otherwise I agree with you, having volume control and meter shrunk is really undesirable.
