Can you help me understand what a more focussed way of applying Genetics in the MM would entail? Not sure if I'm getting the concept and we can blame that on my thick skull...cytospur wrote: Fri Nov 26, 2021 12:55 am I meant a more focussed way of applying Genetics in the MM. I already know that it works there, I just think it could be better than it is now. Blame it on my brevity
Exactly in regards to Randomize. By the time someone figures out what they want to Randomize and what constraints to impose they might as well make their own patch.cytospur wrote: Fri Nov 26, 2021 12:55 amGenetics is a great idea, random not so much, unless you can apply some constraints, in which case you're halfway to making the patch anyway.
I think we should be encouraging people to learn how to program DUNE 3 for themselves instead of giving them training wheels and crutches.
When we initialize a patch in D3 we are presented with the simplest synth patch possible and it makes a great starting point for learning the basics of synthesis. Then of course we can go miles beyond that as our skills and understanding of the options and architecture grow.
You and I and many others in this thread already know the joys of starting with INIT and ending up with a cool sounding patch that fits our needs. It's very satisfying and yields sounds that we like and will use without relying on the random results of some algorithm.
