Interesting read. He's a Dune, Legend, and Knifonium fan as well apparently.

He's also got an original SSM Prophet-5. I recall Urs saying a while back that he heard from someone he trusts that the SSM2140 filters in the new Rev 4's weren't as good as the original SSM2040 's. I'm now starting to suspect that came from Mr. Zimmer. He's someone in Urs' orbit that would certainly know all about the sound of the original SSM filters. Fascinating.

It's kinda fun when Hans Zimmer replies to you (he didn't in that particular VI thread I'm also participating in, but has to me in 2 or 3 others).

Hehehe, no, that wasn't HZ.

I do trust HZ on the Prophet sound though, he put u-he dev ream in panic mode when he asked for an early version of then-in-development Repro-5. He wanted it to play "video killed the radio star" life on his tour on his birthday while joined by Trevor Horn. In the end it was found to be too early to be safe for live, so IIRC Howie recreated those patches on ZebraHZ instead.

(fun fact, the keyboard player of another famous composer used Repro-5 shortly thereafter as a back-up for their vintage hardware Prophet 5 in case the hardware breaks on tour)

That's one way of putting it.

I'd say it's more like the voice of god is talking to you from the skies lol

(I started that thread on VIC that was linked)
