I was feeling frustrated at the lack of documentation, and got sidetracked wondering how MDrummer compared to General Midi, so made a spreadsheet. It is mostly compatible, with some minor differences. I did this by loading the Empty drum set, adding each drum type, and seeing where it mapped. This is just a first pass, so there may be errors.
Is there somewhere on the 'net I could have found this easier? I did google it.
Bug: Handclap and Ride Bell 2 both map to D#2 (39).
Bug: Low and Hi Bongos are swapped.
Unimplemented: General Midi Vibraslap, Cabasa, Cuica, Whistles are unavailable (58, 69, 71, 72, 78, 79). I'm not surprised that the Vibraslap has been replaced by something more useful, but wonder why some substitutions were used instead of extensions.
An Agogo is a pair of bells (I had to google), and some of the other discrepancies are just name changes that I'm too new to understand.
Discrepancies between MDrummer's map and General Midi, collision between handclap and ride bell 2

Basically we tried to match thing as much as possible. The thing is, GM contains lots of garbage nobody uses, so we kinda came up more usable set (you may disagree of course
).
