Please implement key-file licensing, as Harrison and Cockos do it. Having just mysteriously invalidated Retromod FAT again, I've deleted it, the DAW Essentials, Collective, and Waveform 11.5.

worst case: what if they go out of business and there's no possibility to reinstall if the machine ID changes? how to protect your investment then?

That's a good point. I'm very happy with the current WF release. It's very stable for me, rarely crashes except when I do absurd things to it, and when it does crash recovery is painless. I'd keep using it even if Tracktion were to (god forbid) go out of business tomorrow.
Linux version?

Yeah, the trick is that, if you ever change your computer, you can't get it running on the new one. In fact, supposedly even changes to the computer (cards, motherboard, disk...) may change the "system ID", and you'd be stuck in demo mode - as you wouldn't be able to register Tracktion/Waveform if the site isn't up.

This happened to me back in the Tracktion 3 days when Mackie dropped it. I had to upgrade to 4 to get a working version on a new computer.

+1 from me too as a Linux user I often distro hop , do full system upgrades or even add or change hardware and also have multiple computers. As Peter stated the system Id changes doing these things and I have to re-register my plugins etc and obviously this uses up the number of licenses used for WF too.

+1 on keyfile system .

I am planning to move my music production to a new laptop with Win 11 soon. I am already using Waveform 11 in my current laptop. I searched my tracktion account page and the Waveform manual but could not figure out how many licenses I have.

I was hoping I have multiple licenses and/or I would recover one license if I uninstalled Waveform from my old laptop. If I'm using Waveform on one computer only, then I should be using up one license only.

If this is not the case and if this key file thing fixes it, then yeah, I request it too!
Windows 11/Linux Manjaro KDE + Waveform 11.

I believe the number of authorisations per user is more than two, but I don't know exactly how many. However, if you find you can't authorise on a new computer, the devs can reset your allowance by basically voiding all your authorisations and letting you start again. That means any on defunct computers no longer count and the next time you use any current or new one, you'll need to authorise again. Obviously that needs Tracktion to still be operating.
