[BUG] Closing any v15 plug-in window in ableton minimizes ableton

Hi there,

Subject pretty much covers it. Anytime I have a melda plugin open in Ableton and close it via the X in the top right hand corner, it closes the plug-in window, but also minimizes Ableton too. This did not happen with the same melda plug-ins on previous version.

Note: It might be possible that it is not actually minimizing ableton, but rather clicking through ableton onto whatever window (or desktop) is behind it, which is causing ableton to lose focus and be hidden by the other window.

DAW: Ableton Live 11 Suite
OS: Windows 10

Particular plug-ins: the multiband chorus, msaturator, multiband convolution reverb, and multiband waveshaper. Also happens on the rest of the free suite but I am not using those regularly. To reiterate, this did not happen until I upgraded to the V15 versions.

Has anyone experienced this, even in other DAWS? Is there any way to submit a proper bug request? This is a very tedious bug to work around as I am constantly re-opening Ableton's window. Does anyone know if I can revert to V14 perhaps?

Thanks!

That's hardly a plugin's fault. The plugin is only a subcontrol and doesn't own neither the closing button nor the main window. Please ask Ableton.

I checked it does that here too. What a crazy bug. I'll let them know myself. But ask them too please.

I understand what you mean about the X, the odd thing is that it is definitely specific to the Melda plug-ins, and the V15 versions at that. It doesn't occur with any other plug-ins I have, and it didn't happen with the previous version. That is what made me think it had to do with Melda's plug-ins and not Ableton. I'll reach out to Ableton to see what they say though. Thanks for the reply.

Indeed it is odd. But these GUI things may have lots of different causes and Ableton has lots of weird "behaviour situations" in that matter :). In fact these days it seems that the GUI is hardest part for compatibility :o . Anyways I wrote them, hopefully they will check it out at some point. With Ableton it usually takes a long long time though...

Gotcha. Thanks a lot for the help! If this was any other plug-in I probably would have uninstalled it lol, but the Melda ones are really great and definitely worth figuring out.

Hey quick update: I actually found that if nothing is open behind ableton (just desktop/ no other windows) then the bug doesn't occur. Crazy! It's a work around at least, in case anyone else has the same problem.

I should chime in here and say that I've been having this problem with Ableton 11 and it's definitely more than Melda plugins that causes it. Lots of plugins cause this to occur on my end. It's rather annoying.

Confirming it happens with other plugins too (here it is TX16Wx).
Is there already any official bug report or discussion on Ableton site?

Been happening to as well, only Melda stuff AFAIK

i have ableton Live 10 and Windows 10 - i do not experience the issue on my PC.

Live 11 may be culprit???

I notified Ableton, but as usual no reply... so I guess if you want this fixed, please bother them as well :)

Solution:
I faced the same issue and here is my solution.

I used the following command in the Options.txt file:
-_EnsureKeyMessagesForPlugins

After I deleted it, everything worked again.

You find this Option.txt file here:

Windows
\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live x.x.x\Preferences\

MacOS
/Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live x.x.x/
