Arturia Pigments 3 is out!

Indeed it is..
I love the features, but somehow still not sold on the sound alas (as I go thru favouriting the 3.5 bank (seems like they had a lot of feedback for more Hard Basses )).

Another great update for Pigments, now NI...what have you got ready for Massive X to catch up?

It's a mad world, if you had told me ten years ago Arturia would be releasing a granular wavetable VA synth I would probably argue that Ohm Force would be releasing Symptohm 2, or NI would be on that quicker than Arturia. Instead who the hell knows what derailed Ohm Force? and NI are doing pretty much what I expected they might do.

I paid 69USD for Pigments when it first came out- it really is the gift that just keeps on giving!

I own a ton of music software and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that Pigments v1 is the best purchase I've ever made. It was great at release and they just keep making it better, for free. Can't wait to try out the update!

The only comparison for me is Zebra 2, $25 to update from Zebra 1 something like 12 years ago.
Honorable mention to Falcon, wasn't cheap but it's updates are also amazing and free.

Yup- I remember when Arturia were the whipping boys of KVR...now they are amongst the very best developers out there.

I also doubt anyone would have guessed they would become one of the best 'Hardware' synth manufactures as well and the hardware updates to synths like Microfreak have been just as frequent and feature rich...

Nothing but a big from me all around.

NI have always been problematic though, they've always prioritized new sound sets and promotions over fixing older products. When I first bought Komplete 2, Absynth ran badly on PCs and Reaktor crash every 5 minutes on Mac. They took absolutely forever to update to 64 bit, and to port the Mac versions to Intel. People love the Play series, it's wildly successful for them, so it's entirely possible that they make enough cash to start shoring up their products.

The other elephant is their GUI framework, Evil Dragon mentioned it more than once as being a un-unified, 15 year old mess. This means that they need to fix different problems in different plug ins to get resizable GUI's, VST3 and M1 support. I personally hope they don't do what I'm willing to bet they do, roll out these features with new paid upgrade versions, over the course of a few years.

The third monkey is us. We care about whether it's in Rosetta or M1 native, we care about the ecosystem of Reaktor rather than the thousands of devices for it, we care about resizable GUI's, VST3, and MPE, most people don't. KVR is filled with people who know more than Dr. Dre about every plug in out there and where it might not work.

Basically nothing has really changed with NI.

Seems like a great update. I'm looking forward to see what the engine cross mod can do.
Always been fond of comb filters too, and it looks like some work was done on that too.

In the "best value for money ever" category it's hard to beat FL Studio (which I bought at release for something like 10 euros back in the day.. + the one 20 dollar update to 2.0 which then gave me the "pro" version of the future updated package).

.. but yeah, Pigments has been ridiculously good value as I also was one of those people who got it for dirt cheap when it had the first sale (or was it launch price? Don't remember).

Honorable mention to Spire synthesizer too which I bought at launch for something silly like 60 euros or so.

There was already a review of this years freebie on Youtube earlier today that I cant seem to find anymore, but it was a lo fi tape emulator thing based off the Mellotron the MeloFi or something cheesy like that, it looked good though. Probably part of a new FX bundle to be announced shortly.
