.. but yeah, Pigments has been ridiculously good value as I also was one of those people who got it for dirt cheap when it had the first sale (or was it launch price? Don't remember).

Honorable mention to Spire synthesizer too which I bought at launch for something silly like 60 euros or so.
Pigments was $69 if you owned any Arturia software when it came out, $99 I think if you did not, so yeah fantastic deal. Zebra 1 was also something like $60 when it came out as Mac AU only, the upgrade to 2 was $25, 15 odd years ago.

I've got too many DAWs (MPE DAW search made that happen), but Fruity Loops has always been an amazing deal for sure. I don't even want to think about what I've paid to keep DAWs and plug ins current over the years.

It's a mad world, if you had told me ten years ago Arturia would be releasing a granular wavetable VA synth I would probably argue that Ohm Force would be releasing Symptohm 2, or NI would be on that quicker than Arturia. Instead who the hell knows what derailed Ohm Force? and NI are doing pretty much what I expected they might do.
yeah I miss the symptohm. The player is the last thing that was updated; for catalina; doesn't load properly in big sur. I had a lot of fun with this synth (also RIP the tassman; but this one is a bit easier to replace; between multiphonics CV-1 and pigments)

Ugh, yeah, the filters on Symptohm are great. I always hoped that Ohm would just go all out with it and make a granular synth monster out of it, but they got all into online collaboration and I get the feeling they made money selling the tech to other companies, outside of the audio world, so lost focus.

I use it for a live act I haven't done in a few years; but I still keep an old mac laptop around with an old MacOS version just in case I need it. It's also in a freezed track on a project I use for an art installation; that I shall never unfreeze.

Pigments is just total modulation madness. Was just toying with it a bit and there's so many splitting paths to take.
Each one can take you deeper, and they mostly all sound good too. :tu:

One of the best built sequencers as well…

Not much it doesn’t do really, really well to be honest and the new cross modulation and distortion fx just add even more.

Pigments may be the best all round synth now for any money…
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Judging by this update, I would expect the next FX Collection update to feature some distortion and saturation modules. The new distortion modes, auto gain, and focus filter sound excellent!

Wish there was an iOS version. That one page drag drop interface is ideal for tinkering.

Are you safe?

Due to my choice to not use Rosetta, I cannot install Pigments on my new M1-Pro Mac. The Arturia Software Center requires Rosetta to be installed even though Pigments itself is native.

I do look forward to trying 3.5 whenever the installer becomes native too. Looks like another excellent update!

I totally get not installing Rosetta plug ins, I do not get being unwilling to use Rosetta installers? There's literally no negative impact to a Rosetta installer, it's 100% a "principal" thing.

I've never had any problem whatsoever with plugins that require Rosetta on my M1 Mac Mini.

yeah, i don't get that either. it's like you're trying to prove a point, that you're ahead of the curve. i mean, eventually everything will be silicon with apple, but during the transition, rosetta2 is a force for good. and, as machinesworking points out, you just need rosetta for the install.

Oh wow - normally I am not the guy, beeing a fanboy!

But Pigments is getting better more and more. Discussing here the absolute fair business model is unfortunately covering the fact that Pigments is one of the greatest synths out there.

It is ridiculous how good it already is and it gets updated further and further...

Just discovered the internal store, where you can download and play all the sounds similar as in Analog Lab, and just if you want to dig deeper or change them, then you have to buy them. It is really genius and next level, how they integrated their Preset store in the synth!

Don't know, if the business model works for them, but they engage a perfectionism, where other companies could take a leaf out of their book (I am watching at you, NI).

OK, on the other side, I find it a little bit odd, when EQs can now be modulated, what I have missed and thus been waiting for - that this is only for frequency but not gain and Q. Really don't understand how one can make such a decision. Is it to leave room for a next update? Or did they run out of time and the programmer missed to add these parameters? Strange to me.

But nevertheless Pigments is for me the most (non(-semi)-modular) comprehensive and versatile synth ATM while having the best GUI/workflow after Serum and playing sonically in the top league (I know that's controversial).
