I somehow never ran into it.

What do you have to do to do so?

No kidding smart@ss. And did they decide to change Steinberg's copy protection
scheme that year too?? :P That also says nothing to their more recent acquisitions
Line 6 & Ampeg.

Because FENDER is not run by musicians and has not been for years.
They are owned by a private equity firm run by bean counters. Sometimes,
these types of firms, like Mitt Romney's former company Bain Capitol, buy
companies to PURPOSLY destroy them to line their own pockets. Sometimes
they simply do not understand the needs of the user base of the company
they just bought. Either way....the end user is screwed.

When CBS bought Fender back in the day it nearly ruined the brand. Likewise
when Norlin bought Gibson the result was the same. Likewise Gibson ruined
countless companies and technologies they bought. Roland bought Cakewalk.
And Roland actually made software and music hardware. How'd that workout for Sonar users? Bandlab may have it on life support but it will never be what it once was.

The verdict is still out on Yamaha's scooping up Steinberg and Line 6 AND Ampeg. And Korg's grabbing Marshall & Vox.

Sometimes these things work out. But just as often they do not.
Personally, I used to work for Presonus & am a long time Studio One
user. I'm not ready to jump ship just yet.....but I'm keeping a very close
watch on how this buyout progresses.
As a former Presonus employee what do you see happening? Also, I was thinking Matthias from Presonus Software created Studio One. Is their a chance he leaves you think to create his own DAW, if Fender doesn't workout? He left Steinberg I think, and created one. Just a thought.
At last a meaningful response with pertinent questions instead of the usual KVR snark fest. As to your first question. I still have many friends inside the company and they are excited and positive about the deal. BUT....you must also realize that Presonus Audio Electronics in Baton Rouge, USA and Presonus Software in Berlin, Germany are, in fact, two separate companies. Of course, they work closely together, but unless Fender bought BOTH companies...and I can't confirm or deny this....Studio One maybe unaffected. OR if Fender can't have them, perhaps they will tear up the deal and shutter that end of the business. In that case, I would assume Matthias would build a new DAW....just like he did when he split from Steinberg. And where HE goes......I follow.

If they're coming from you.....then absolutely YES! And my comments are neither wild nor speculative. Apparently, you did not actually READ my posts. As I said, I have worked for Presonus and have many friends that still do...and YOU?? I guess I should cut you some slack if English is not your primary language.

Lots of speculation, and a lot of opinion vs. facts in your posts. Not my fault if you're not able to grasp your own thoughts.

Thank you. And happy speculations over the holiday season about what the "bean counters" will do with your ex-company. :tu: Or rather, with the sister company of your ex-company. I doubt that you worked for Presonus Software, which was the company in question here, if you didn't notice.

Really? Is that all you've got?? What an incredibly weak response. YOU made Presonus Software the object of discussion here. So you have actual proof that Fender USA purchased Presonus Software Germany? All I did was mention the actual FACT that Presonus Software is a separate entity. No I did not "work" for Presonus Software did you? Are you secretly Matthias? Or are you just talking out of the wrong orifice?? That would be my guess. I also happen to have friends that work for Presonus Software and have family in Berlin. So, unless YOU have some actual FACTS to back up your BS accusations.....I strongly suggest you STFU.

Have a Wonderful Life..... :D

I have few worries about Yamaha buying anyone. Yamaha is enormous and the vast majority of that revenue is from sales of musical instruments and gear. They are also diversified into other areas of business, but they are a Japanese mega corporation, not a venture capital firm, so hearing you lump them in with Mitt Romney’s dealings is just weird. Yamaha is more akin to Roland (although WAY bigger) who despite your post, were not the ones who ran Cakewalk into the dirt, that would have happened after Roland sold that division to Gibson, and Gibson had their much talked about issues.

And what does the dongle have to do with anything? I’m completely ambivalent about the licensing change. Dongle hating might be a popular opinion here, but it’s far from a universal one.

I agree.
I love Impact and Mai Tai :)
Sampler One is also a cool and simple sampler.

I don't use Presence at all since i have all the Rompler sounds i need elsewhere :)

Mai Tai is super and very versatile synth that people overlook because it is bundled in a Daw and i love that it has different Character settings and Quality setting that do what they say and change it into a Complete different sounding synth.
I also have an abundance of rompler sounds, Sampletank 4, Kontakt 6, Air Structure and more I forget about, but I rarely use them. I used to use rompler sounds in all my songs, but lately its just synths. And of late most of the sounds I use I are either Studio Ones onboard synths or sounds I make up by sampling something in Reaktor using Sampleone. Its simple, very quick, and does the job, and gives polyphony to Reaktors Monark synth.
