Good Bye Reaktor, good bye NI synths

NI just did a 4.2 Battery, I know the beta was specifically to test for Monterey OS, which is not what a company about to abandon a line is going to do.
I suppose it's ready, but I don't run Monterey.

Not quite the same is it? Synths generate sound, so the quality and character of that sound may differ a great deal between synths. A drum sample is a drum sample however. Wether it’s played back by Battery or a DAWs native drum sample playback thingy.pdxindy wrote: Mon Dec 20, 2021 7:52 pmBy that logic, NI should stop producing synths too as all DAW's also have themLFO8 wrote: Mon Dec 20, 2021 11:51 am Not sure if NI are going to invest in Battery anymore since most all DAWS have their native solutions for drums now. Ableton has Drum Rack, Logic has Drum Machine Designer… etc

If you have layered sounds with multiple velocity levels, then you need the sound engine to have good streaming abilities...
That is one of the strengths of Battery because of the DNA that it shares with Kontakt
I use drum kits in Battery with up to 128 velocity levels on each pad and it handles that effortlessly
No auto tune...

The handwringing over older plugins making it to VST 3 etc is too much. I have every confidence they'll make it in a fairly reasonable time frame (reasonable is in relation to the size of their catalog as well as how divergent the codebase is). They'll certainly get it done eventually. Why wouldn't they ? They add value to all the komplete bundles that NI love to sell to the masses. Unless they are going to supercede those older plugins with newer ones, I have no doubt they'll update the older ones to newer standards.
And yes, this is from the perspective of an investment fund wanting to maximise return. (On a side note: I'm not sure why anyone would try to pretend it's business as usual at NI, purely on the basis of how quickly - or slowly - updates get rolled out).
What the investment funds have killed in NI is innovation (broadly speaking). They just want to milk the IP that already exists (which means updating it to newer standards which are likely to endure) and sell 'content' for that IP. Some IP lends itself to content consumption more than others, so they'll be brought up to the newer standards first ... But the rest of the komplete catalog will follow, because they are - at the very least - content for their komplete product line. And Kontent is the name of the game.

I apologise to bluesawsq .
He guessed correcly ,but it was evildragon who provided the facts .
Opinions are nothing when not backed up by actual real info , and imho bluesaq did not provide that .
But still , I apologise
I can't say more about the beta because that's how it goes with closed beta testing .
The developer is pretty damn good and well respected here on kvr .

So let's be honest here, you don't really apologize here, you just think he guessed correctly, and admit you were wrong. Lesson not learned.gentleclockdivider wrote: Tue Dec 21, 2021 10:43 am Yes Indeed .

Afaik , bluesawsq stated that battery was just a reskinned kontakt .
Without any proof backing up that claim , he could either be right or wrong , simple as that .
So what ecactly is the problem ?

Some people always need an excuse as to why they acted rudely. Personally I realized a while ago judging people without backup for that judgment is just as bad or worse than the initial thing you were judging as not having backup. In other words you've made a claim that someone else was guessing, without really knowing, and you got caught, but you stick by your guns that this person was guessing. Bluesawsq comes back with details and it's not good enough for you until someone else confirms it, but you still can't be wrong because Bluesawsq still didn't give enough information....
It's OK to be wrong. That's what really bothers me maybe, you're not capable of admitting you're wrong without doubling down on your initial claim that someone is guessing, spreading misinformation etc. without again attacking the source as the real problem. The real problem is you called someone a nitwit and doubled down on it until you couldn't deny their claim. You assumed they did not know and you still do, but you don't know they don't know, and you were wrong to begin with. The reasonable thing would have been to question the statement and poke holes if they were there, not jump to conclusions.
Side note, I blame this logic on all the bugs in software, so I unfairly dislike this sort of thing, when someone who is smart, sticks by faulty logic and refuses to see the error is theirs, not the OS, DAW etc. Just had this happen with a bug that was installer oriented, that the developer blamed on the DAW I use, the solution I found was to use the same fix he recommend that another DAW needed for the installer not to cause issues, had nothing to do with the DAW.

i thought it was common knowledge they shared code, at least since the other day when evildragon mentioned it elsewhere
(battery thread iirc?)
