Nope; that's come up in the searches Ive done but Im afraid not. The one Im thinking of had a (3-5" I'd say) speaker mounted on the top of the box, and if Im right it was styled a bit like the Erica stuff.
I dont think it had springs, it was more about feedback.

Do you recall if it was a one-off, or a kit?

Its quite a lot like this in principle/operation

but very 'boutique' construction...

Its not this one, which seems to be a production version of the thing in that video Ive posted. There seems to be a black variant as well, but its not quite what I remember.

This is what I recall as well... scouring 'reverb' and 'tindy, as we speak.

(have thus far found 3 other "Oooh, now that's cool!", things)

Yeah, I'm positive there was a 'black' one, that was slightly smaller than the one there, and 'cleaner', in a more "professional" build, way.

I can only find an image of a black one on the top of this Pinterest page, (cant get the image seprately) and I dont think its the thing Im trying to remember.

Oh well, I think the Macumbista page is enough to go on.

Meanwhile, I bought a £20 rat clone (black teeth), a £20 tubescreamer clone (greenizer), a £20 hyper fuzz clone (SF300), and a couple of £30 reverb pedals (a snake bite and a skysurfer).
And then a £40 lasercut hurdy-gurdy kit.

An accidental nod to Menace Ruine when you take them altogether, I suppose.

Will do. I saw 'proper' kits at $600-700, so yeah, not cheap at all. I was really just looking to see what the rotary 'bow' mechanism was like, cos there's one in the Apprehension Engine. And then Amazon had this thing...
Going by pootube, it works, but obviously a little bit cruder than a proper one, soundwise.
