Short, but very nice :tu:
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

enroe wrote: Mon Dec 20, 2021 11:39 am "The Snow Maiden" is a fairytale-like title. And that's how the song starts ...
it fulfills the expectations of an orchestral, spaciously sound. Choir and
glockenspiel harmonize well with each other - a floating, atmospheric,
fairytale-like mood arises. :wheee: :violin:

Overall: The instrumental is a bit short. As soon as you have listened to
it, it is already over! Well done! :tu:
The Snow Maiden is a character in Russian folktales...so I'm glad you thought of fairy tales when listening! :)

Yes, it's a short one,i agree, but I shall develop and extend it at some point!

Many thanks for the feedback!

Yay! You spotted the major twist at the end...tad cheesy, but i thought it worked here?

It's a bittersweet tale the Snow Maiden - spring arrives after a deep Russian Winter - hurrah! but, of course, she slowly melts away! :ud: :(

I expect nothing less from you.

PS - You really need to post more often. Too many of the great artists here spend way too much time away.
Hi Wags, yes it's a short one...100% agree and I do plan to extend it!

I try to post on here as much as possible, but the truth is that I have to take breaks from all social media from time to time! :) :ud: :help:

I really like when there are emotional shifts in songs, especially if it feels narrative like this. :tu:

delicate and perfect for the season. I got a kind of looking out over landscape feel towards the end, good place to expand on the theme I thought.
very nice composition

Sounds like you are using high quality soft-synths in the whole song. Very nice melodies! Sounds great all around. I could picture this in a movie. Excellent job! :)

I feel a bit uncomfortable critiquing your work, Mark, as you are obviously a very accomplished musician with a great ear for a tune, professionally mixed, which are mastered perfectly. I played your top 6 tracks on your SC site today and they are all remarkably melodic and beautifully crafted. I particularly liked The City of Illusions. When I have some more time, I'll listen to the remainder of your posted tracks.
As soon as I heard this I thought of "The Snowman" because to my ears, "The Snow Maiden " has got that same orchestral, dreamy, fantasy-like vibe to it. It's screaming out as a TV/film theme tune! The bells are magical in what they add to the overall feel over the baritone male choir and strings. When the drums come in they are perfectly weighted to add bottom end drama to the remainder of the layered sounds. The woodwind is sublime too. As you say, you could develop this in a number of directions. Its a really good piece of work, well done.
BTW, I have no problem in producing short pieces; I have way too many; its finishing a whole track that I struggle with! And I'm originally a Halesowen boy so not far from Penkridge or Bourneville, Birmingham. My wife worked at Beatties in W'ton for a number of years.
Music is the food of the soul!
