I'll just walk around the neighborhood or dig through my garage looking for stuff that could have interesting sonic properties. It's not the same as going shopping at Perfect Circuit or Analog Haven but it's still rewarding when I find something cool. I'm having a bunch of fun with an old metal shelf from the fridge in my garage. Metal blinds are also a hoot.
I could almost (literally) open a shop, with my 4-5 decades worth of 'strange objects to record' obsession/collection, for those similarly inclined.

... sadly, one of the sonic-ally coolest things I finally had to quit carting around with me on my many moves, was a 30" Oscillating Pedestal Fan 'grill':

It sounded similar to a gong, without the 'ong' bit. :hihi:

My favorite thing in the world when I was a kid was the TV stand my parents had, which had a wire rack on the bottom for holding LPs (but we didn't have many LPs). They could be twanged and rubbed and tapped and all kinds of things... probably bowed too. Naturally I drove my folks crazy and they forbid me from messing with it. I wish I had that thing now!

charity shops often have the free standing ones here.

egg slicers make pings if plucked, or they can be strummed but carefully!

This is an old brass anodized-aluminum CPU cooler (one of many, though most have 'fins/blades') which sounds sooo cool, when struck or strummed. :tu:

Back to the original subject, I have more or less this plan:
- adding 8 input through adat to my current setup
- buying a JD-08
- possibly adding another midi interface

These purchases require me to rethink my current setup in order to find a place for them. I’ll probably need to swap a rack with a bigger one. Untill I’ll figure out how to organize the setup with those purchases, I won’t buy anything.

Then there’s a long list of things I’d like to get, but those are just dreams because I don’t have room (and they are not exactly cheap either).
free multisamples (last upd: 22th May 2021).

I only started accumulating that sort of stuff after I bought this place, about 15 years ago, but, erm, Ive definitely accumulated.

Korg Opsix landed on my doorstep yesterday. Surprised at how very DX it can be - most demos show off all the other fancy stuff (which obviously I like) but seemed to show it couldn't properly do some of the DX sound that closely...eg twangy basses. But I was in cheesey 80s nostalgia heaven. It can do ultimate DX double fromage

Next is to delve into the weird stuff. Very much loving FM again.

The Behringer 303 arrived too...a silly purchase probably, but have to admit it's instant fun (apart from the godawful way of programming that I never liked). Magnificent in purple too. 8)

Now I have to d/l the Opsix v2.0 OS. Unfortunately mine is a v1.something. Pisser to get a new toy straight out of the box and have to update it...and I don't have one of those new style USB leads. Have to wait for shops etc to open up... :x :tantrum:

Hardware modular modules. Analog console mixer. Maybe a Novation circuit rhythm to add to y sp404A.

Haha, that's great cover art for the pedal.

I couldn't wait until next month and didn't feel like paying more later, so I ordered the Korg NTS-1. Korg is raising all their pricing starting today (unless you can sneak in one more purchase before the increase).

Using the Microfreak with the NTS-1 for FX should be fun. I wish they were battery-powered for an even easier workflow but portable batteries work just fine for that too.

As for my 2022 plans, there’s honestly nothing pressing right now. The Behringer RD-9 looks intriguing if it ever gets to full release, and I may pick up a Fender or Sadowsky 5-string jazz bass at some point.

Getting back into production after a few years off. My 2009 Dell still does the job, but I've moved most of my VST's and samples over to my laptop, and upgraded Cubase from 6.5 to 11. Looking forward to what Cubase 12 has to offer (will be a free u/g for me since I bought v11 during the grace period). Might update NI Komplete, from v.8 to current. I'm a bit surprised with how little has changed since I bought v.8, but the upgrade is less than a couple of the VI's I don't have and would like (notably Noire, full version of Kontakt 6 and Massive X). Other than that, I will probably buy a better laptop or a desktop during 2022 if finances permit, and a good USB-C hub if they don't. I can run pretty much all I need on my current laptop, but I don't have space for any more significant sample libraries, and I'm out of ports to use an external drive. If Cubase 12 is stable on release, I will be able to lose the dongle and gain back a USB port. That'd be good.
