A Melodyne tip, which I suspect most of you have seen; updates and upgrades at reduced prices until the end of the month (June 2021). There might be sneaky ways to get your Editor or Assistant to Studio for less than you'd usually have to pay.

Hi know this is an old post but I was just running into this same issue and was able to fix it. When using Melodyne as the stretch type (which is what Tracktion recommends instead of using the plugin and transferring the audio) my timing on the vocal I recorded had weird timing.Dandavr wrote: Fri Feb 26, 2021 10:57 pm Hey, thanks for this! The documentation from Tracktion--and the advice I got from Tracktion support yesterday--says to activate Melodyne by selecting it as an option in the "Stretch" property. They don't mention just putting it in the signal chain like a regular plug-in. Following your advice, I get the results I expect!
The way I fixed this... On the top left of the Melodyne window there is tempo window and it tries to detect the tempo while the audio is playing back. Stop playback and use that tempo drop down to select "apply constant tempo" making sure it matches the tempo of your project. After this, the audio in Melodyne matches up perfectly timing wise.
Hope this helps anyone else having this issue in Waveform using Melodyne going forward.

How to get Melodyne to follow the Tempo track.
I mapped a live recording with a Tempo track.
But Melodyne doesn't follow the tempo changes from the Tempo Track.
Does anyone have experience with it, please?
Thanks

Melodyne will follow whatever you have set as the project BPM. If you are working with a live recording--with a variable BPM or the Waveform default of 120--then Melodyne will have a more difficult time understanding how to map the tempo changes.
It would be easier for you to either (a) work out the tempo from the song itself and map out the changes using Waveform's tempo track...then Melodyne has something to follow or (b) work with Melodyne with one, long track. The problem with (b) is that you won't be able to do any easy timing adjustments because Melodyne has no idea what the time signature or tempo is.
If that's the case, I recommend slicing up the recording into smaller clips, and dropping Melodyne onto each clip, one at a time. It will be easier to work with than one long recording.
Also, if you're not already aware of this, you can make small timing changes *regardless* of the project tempo by holding down the <alt> key while dragging the blob in Melodyne.

How do I copy clips with melodyne tuning data in waveform?
1. Ordinarily, in any other DAW, if I have a clip appear on a track 5 times and I tune one of the instances in melodyne using ARA, the other instances get the same tuning automatically by default. How do I make this happen in Waveform?
2. After tuning a clip in melodyne, copying the clip and pasting it creates either a clip without tuning or resets the tuning of the initial clip and moves all tuning to the newly pasted clip. How can I copy a melodyne tuned clip in waveform and still keep all the tuning?

I haven't noticed copying a clip *NOT* bringing Melodyne with it, but to be fair, I don't know I've ever done that.
For 1., you might try linked clips. I don't use them, but suspect they should work.
When I have clips that need to appear multiple times, I only Melodyne the first one. Then, when I'm totally satisfied with the result, I *render* the clip. Then I can copy it as many times as I want.
For 2., that's a different thing. Sometimes I like to A and B variations, and very often I'll use both takes as doubles. So for question 2, yeah--I do this a lot.
Here's what I do: I duplicate the track. That copies the Melodyne information with it. I do this because I don't want to destructively edit the first take unless I know I've (a) got a backup. I think this could work for you.
In other words, duplicate the track, then delete the clips you don't want.

This suggestion isn't working for me. Why can't Tracktion just update Waveform's ARA Support to version 2 so we can get on with our lives. That would be the greatest quality of life update for Waveform right seconded only by adding a Portamento system either to their pianoroll like in FLStudio (which I would prefer) or in their samplers. Waveform already has ARA which shows that it should work with ARA2 but it's just not been implemented. Even ProTools got ARA2 before Waveform and ProTools never gets anything before anyone these days.Watchful wrote: Tue Jul 08, 2025 7:06 pm I haven't noticed copying a clip *NOT* bringing Melodyne with it, but to be fair, I don't know I've ever done that.

I don't think it's a Tracktion issue...if I recall (I could be wrong), but ARA2 isn't supported by JUCE, so Waveform can't use it. Anyone is welcome to correct me or confirm that.

JUCE7 supports ARA2. So this is A Tracktion issue. They just haven't implemented the support. JUCE has supported ARA2 since JUCE7 was released in 2022 which is enough time for ARA2 to be implemented in Waveform 13.5 at least. Yet it isn't.Watchful wrote: Sat Jul 12, 2025 11:48 pm I don't think it's a Tracktion issue...if I recall (I could be wrong), but ARA2 isn't supported by JUCE, so Waveform can't use it.
