It's too bad that this synth is trapped in business. At this point just having a Vanguard 1 ported to 64-bit and wrapped in a VST3 with a 2x larger GUI would be a nice addition. It was gritty and digital which was an interesting sound.

I don't think I ever used Vanguard. Would another Tone2 synth be able to imitate it's sound, such as Icarus or Gladiator?

Icarus is the one that comes closest

A few months later I received an email where they decided to pay me only 25%. I answered that I am not ok with this, since we already signed a valid contract and I never did agree with it. Since then I never heard anything from them.
Oh, sorry then, misunderstood the problem here.

Indeed sounds like reFX move.
It runs on my machine! Everything else is undefined behavior.

I've used the reFX plugs on Mac bridged. They work, but the GUIs are goofy--the patch name doesn't always update to reflect changes and the whole thing squirms in and out of its window when you move it about.

Do not recommend, which is a pity since I adore Vanguard (without the reverb), PlastiCZ and Slayer. All very easy to program and get great sounds out of. (Well, maybe not Slayer, but it's a blast to play with!)
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

I 100% agree with the reverb of Vanguard. It's really ugly and must be replaced.

I also developed the audio-engine of Slayer and PlastiCZ. Creating PlastiCZ2 would not be difficult. It's a simple synth with only a few parameters.
You can replace PlastiCZ with Icarus2. Use the 'PD' wavetables or the 'PhaseDistort' synthesis mode.

this is really a bummer with Vanguard 2, i mean wtf is up? Refx seems to be clearly $$$$$$$$$.... more support for Tone2!
i love vanguard, Markus maybe if the project works to load up Vanguard presets etc. we could replace the old vanguard instances before it is too late :D
i would pay tone2 for a vanguard compatible vst! if refx doesnt want to are for its users/supporters then im glad to support companies which do. thats the only way to show em, with our wallett and support/not support.

I would never judge before hearing both sides of the story.

Would it be feasible for you to create a version of Icarus which has the same engine as Vanguard that can open up old Vanguard preset files? I'd pre-order it if you did.
