Many thanks to DSP56300 emulation Team... Emulation sounds great for me (never had real Virus)!
I think there is still lot do to (good GUI needs improvements, maybe some optimalizations of emulation, ...) but it is great project with great sound.... donation sent! Thanks!

You seem to compare presets. It is possible that you have discovered a few that are simply buggy. We just discovered that in the latest version the matrix slots 4 through 6 don't work. This may indeed affect some presets.OrionAlpha101 wrote: Mon Jan 10, 2022 4:07 pm Maybe it's the da converter?
The reverb also sounds different in many presets.
However, the basic sound engine itself, when all things are considered, should be technically 100% identical as it is actually running the real code of the Access Virus (B and C).
DA converter should be a very minor factor and considering your completely hyperbolic words you are either trolling or clueless on how to communicate with people. In either case, seek some professional help.

Insults do not change the fact that the resonance whistles and overdriven.
I play with the preset (Polar JS) in the first Bank, hold the keys, sometimes hard.
I analyze the sound with headphones (DT 770Pro 250 OHM)

i think nordlead will remains the best Va from the 90s.. i have nl 4 right now and i consider it as one of the best synth i owned as well as the 2gentleclockdivider wrote: Mon Jan 10, 2022 5:37 pm I applaud this project because it simply allows for people that never played a virus actually have the chance to find out the virus is nothing special .
I remember back in the day comparing the virus b to my nord lead ,it sounded sterile and flat ( booster and effects disabled ), the nord was full of live and a characterfull filter .
Excited about the forthcoming waldorf wavetable emu’s !
a little 303 patch made in few minutes , full reso full drive and it use a wave , i guess the osc saw would have sounded better, with all the great plugins it s not really special anyway but dosen t sound bad, it sound rather good for a patch made turning 5 knobs in 3 minutes testing the 303 filter , sonically it could be 100% analog for me

For those who are interested, here is a German thread about the emulator on Sequencer.de: https://www.sequencer.de/synthesizer/th ... rf.158280/
I wasn't aware that numerouno is a fellow countryman.
There's talk about the possibility of the Novation K-Station, by the way. Even though there's the V-Station, I would be interested in the K-Station, if the Novation Nova isn't happening. But, of course the Q or microQ would be freaking awesome, which are mentioned there as well.

Wow, GUI is very helpful, lot of fun, thanks!
One thing I noticed: Performance seems to be far worse on my older i7 machine than 1.1.2(?) build. But on my arm mac it flies

shouldnt all synths be "possible" (digital hw obvs)?chk071 wrote: Mon Jan 10, 2022 8:01 pm For those who are interested, here is a German thread about the emulator on Sequencer.de: https://www.sequencer.de/synthesizer/th ... rf.158280/

provided someone with the hardware uploads the rom chip?
ie the emulator, once working would just load roms? or do you mean someone putting together guis n such on top of "the rom works"?
just interested because i dont really fully understand
and i certainly aint understanding that much german

numerouno wrote something about that here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=567546&p=8314952#p8314952
And, synths with multiple DSP chips in them are not supported yet either, see here: https://dsp56300.wordpress.com/faqs/

Q: What synthesizers can we expect to be emulated?
A: Right now we focus on the Access Virus B & C. The Waldorf Microwave II/XT and microQ are being investigated.
Q: Why not the “real” Waldorf Q? What about Virus TI?
A: These synthesizers use multiple DSPs and will be more complex to emulate. Right now we focus on synthesizers that have one DSP only due to simplicity.
Furthermore, we don’t want to emulate gear that is still being sold and this is the case for the Virus TI.

if i understand this post correctly,
https://www.sequencer.de/synthesizer/th ... st-2236661
it has to do, that lots of synth use lots of different chips for various tasks (like midi control etc)
the virus being the exception because all is done in the 56k
p.s.:
try google translate - seems to work quite well...

And apart from that, we didn't even start the virus first, it was just the first to run. The reason is relatively trivial: With the Virus, the DSP does almost everything, even the MIDI handling, the microcontroller used is simply too "dumb" to take on bigger tasks. It does nothing but loop through MIDI more or less, read out preset management, LCD control and potentiometers and send them to the DSP. With the Waldorfs it looks completely different, the Motorola 68k used there was the main processor in my Atari! With the Waldorfs, it has a lot more to do with the sound engine. […]

How come this version of the GUI has some controls on the left (Channel Level and Channel Pan) that the one I downloaded from the Discord is missing? I don't see an update that includes those.db3 wrote: Mon Jan 10, 2022 3:25 pmThe version available from Discord already has a much better functioning GUI. This one as shown before:chk071 wrote: Mon Jan 10, 2022 2:09 pm Yes.
Even though the VST version already has a GUI, but, it's a temporary one, where you have to scroll through hundreds of parameters to find the one you're looking for. The new one will be much more like a typical plugin GUI, as has been shown on the last few pages.![]()
Note: using the VST2 Win x64 build here.
