Main outputs slightly delayed versus Aux outputs (PW)

More of an observation than a question...

I was testing routing the parallel chains to separate outputs in PatchWork, and noticed I was getting a phasing issue. Setting the 'Audio I/O' manually to outputs 1/2 on the first chain was out of sync with the second chain routed to outputs 3/4 (even when I had nothing in the Post section).

If I routed the chains to 3/4 and 5/6 (skipping the main outputs altogether) then the chains were perfectly synced.

This was found by trial and error. Is there a reason why the main outputs have this slight delay, even with no plugins in Post?

EDIT: I might have it the wrong way around - the aux outputs are slightly delayed compared to the main outputs.

With my plugins, PW was reporing a latency of 22ms. If I delayed channel 1/2 output by this amount, then the audio was perfectly in sync with the output 3/4.

I guess this may happen with some plug-ins that have latency, if they are routed on different channels in the same chain: to avoid performance issues, latency is compensated at the end of a chain (PRE/POST or each parallel chain), so maybe you are in the case where this causes the latency not to be properly compensated on other channels.
