I want to be able to set a specific loop length in the sampler, say 10ms, and then move the start point through the sample keeping the same 10 ms loop length.

I've managed to kind of fudge a way by setting an LFO or envelope on the start, and then map the same envelope on the end point with an added constant added to it, but this is problematic for a few reasons.

1) because things work as a percentage, tming is not useful
2) sometimes with the wrong percentage ratios the length will drift depending on the start point
3) if the start point nears the end of the sample, there are odd anmoloies

If you could have a strict loop length, based in time, then this would help. Or if anyone knows of another way to get thre that would be great too! Thanks.

I wonder, what would this be useful for? Seems like extremely rare situation, right?

A friend was telling me that you couldn't do granular with MSF, so I was trying to show them all the ways you could, including building something from scratch using the sampler, but it sparked a lot of other craetive ideas in my head around how to treat a sample if this was posible. Forcing the loop end point to be a constant away from the loop start you can create oldskool weird timestretching effects, or by creating "chops" of beats that don't spill over in to the next hit, that then modulate and jump around the loop, sometimes eighth note section, sometime 16th note etc (yes ignoring groove and such like).

Hmmm, well, all of that seems to be more useful for granular imho, which is planned soon.

Ok, I did not know that lol. I shall go back in my box and await whatever comes with a grin like a child waiting for Christmas. Thanks for the reply and all the hard work! :)
