This is great wagtunes. It made me smile:)

Every once in a while, I'll write a song around a synth riff. Well, this one I wrote off of two synth riffs. I think it came out pretty good but I'll let you decide for yourself.
4th track from my upcoming CD "Holidays"
This Ain't No Easter Island
Here now we stand
Time to take your brother's hand
We must all be brave
For God's son rose for us to save
This ain't no Easter Island
This ain't no paradise
This ain't no Easter Island
Will you believe in Christ
Oh you just might win
And be free of sin
This ain't no Easter Island
No one can back down
Time to take a look around
Judgment day is here
If we don't act the end is near
Repeat Chorus

wagtunes,
Now listening to "Easter Island": nice synths! What did you use? Very nice melodies all around per usual. The End does seem near. Drums are working well. Very nice song!

Hey Aaron. The opening synth riff is Obsession. The synth ARP for the verse was a patch from Dune 3. The background pad was MPowersynth. The guitars were Music Labs Real LPC. The drums were MODO Drums. The bass was MODO Bass. All the orchestral sounds were from EWQL libraries.aaron aardvark wrote: Wed Jan 12, 2022 5:00 am wagtunes,

Hi wagtunes,
A global comment, listening to your more recent tracks: they sound more full, with diversified instrumentation, pleasant melodies, clean vocals and warm mixes (also more airy).
I think you've improved really quite a lot!!!
I haven't listened to everything, but I'm hearing the best I've heard from you.
There's A Little Bit Of Irish In All Of Us
This is a warm and happy tune. I'm enjoying the variety of instruments from synths to guitars to accoustic instruments.
The mix sounds balanced over the whole spectrum, crisp and airy - nothing to add there.
I also think your lyrics are nicely thought out.
This Ain't No Easter Island
I like the vocal processing in this one. They're upfront and sound very clear to me.
The synth arps are working very well (also the main synth patch fits very well, it gives it a retro vibe which I like). Mix-wise, I can't find anything irritating, so quite a solid rounded sound on my monitors.
The instrumentation is very melodic, which I like a lot (the synth melodies work well with the main vocal).
Overall an enjoyable song & instrumentation. Nicely done!

Thanks. You know, I wish I had the time to redo some of the crappy productions I used to do. There's a song under a lot of them but they're just so badly produced you really can't tell.jackoo wrote: Wed Jan 12, 2022 2:14 pm Hi wagtunes,

Today, it would be very rare for something to stick out as bad. i really slave over this stuff now. Sure, some people may not agree with some of my production choices and I'm sure even more might feel my songs are still just plain garbage anyway, but at least it won't be through lack of effort. The combination of knowledge (I did study a lot the last few years) and commitment (I used to be very lazy) has made all the difference in the world. In fact, I listen to some of my stuff compared to tracks of years ago and I find myself saying "Damn, did I really do that?" Some of it truly astonishes even myself.
And the end result has been, after 44 years, I finally got a gig writing for an established band and am receiving royalty checks in the process. I'll never get rich doing this, but at least I can say I finally accomplished what I set out to do.
I don't have anything left to prove to myself or anyone else.
It was a long time coming.

wagtunes,
Now listening to "New Year New You": right off the bat, this sounds like classic wagtunes, in the best sense of the phrase. Nice piano! Ha ha, I don't make New Year resolutions.......haven't for ages. Though I think it is important to try to make self improvements over time. Very nice song and melodies, very good audio per usual. Happy New Year!
