14KHz sine wave hum ,it sounds like this sometimes on different patches and a very high frequency.
The audio interface is good.

You're not crazy. Even professionally produced songs have this mistake and hit the radio with high frequencies the engineers couldn't hear.
Like the other person has suggested, it may be a samplerate issue for you.

I think this idea is awesome, i for one and interested in seeing where it goes.

I've seen the use of FPGA in this old gaming project called MiSTer where they are essentially using FPGAs to mimic the workings of many different vintage computers and consoles.

Anyhow It uses both a FPGA and a ARM processor together and works really well. I wonder if in the future it could be ported to something like it?

No, but I doubt that this CPU will handle above 108 MIPs in the test tool

FPGAs are reconfigurable chips that can be used to do hardware emulations of other chips or even circuits. They use them a lot for prototyping new chip designs.

i sometimes change between B and C and would like to know which one is loaded...

kind of ridiculous, that with 2.3% (as in reaper) i get cpu overloads on an i7

i7 should handle the emulator in the future.I have the same problems with the cpu spikes.

just tried it on a slower laptop i3:
no chance -> cpu-overload-crackling-festival
B or C both the same, even with a high buffer of 1024 in reaper
