You get the latest AFAIK. However, I do wonder how long you can sit on an unused code (Cubase Elements). Is there an expiry or something?[0_0] wrote: Tue Jan 11, 2022 1:49 pm Those Cubase LE/AI keys, do they have a version number? Or do you get the latest version upon registering them?

I'm sorta surprised that the SSL X-Saturator $19.99 deal hasn't created a stir. I bought it a few days ago and have already used several instances in the tracks I'm currently working on. I'm gobbling up all the SSL plugins as they go on sale and only need a handful more to complete the collection of the ones I want.

When you redeem a LE key it will give you whatever the current LE version is. If the licence has a number after it when shown in the eLC it will activate that version and any earlier ones.[0_0] wrote: Tue Jan 11, 2022 1:49 pm Those Cubase LE/AI keys, do they have a version number? However in the case of LE (not sure about AI but I'd imagine it's the same) you can get a code for a generic licence update from Steinberg support if you have LE ( I believe it's for LE 4 or higher) in your account. This removes the version number meaning it will unlock all future versions of LE.
I read somewhere here that AI always gave access to the latest version and contacted their support to confirm this as I was trying to get a copy of AI for this reason. They told me that my LE 8 licence was eligible for a generic licence update and this changed the licence from "Cubase LE 8" to just "Cubase LE". I then installed LE 11 to test it out and it activated fine.

How does it compare to newer releases like Kelvin, Overstayer, VSM-4, BlackBox HG2/MS, Neold BigAl, Eylsia Phil's Cascade, Pulsar Modular P42?cryophonik wrote: Wed Jan 12, 2022 5:21 pm I'm sorta surprised that the SSL X-Saturator $19.99 deal has created a stir. These are my go tos, can't believe, even for $19 this is better / more useful.

I don't own any of those, so I can't say. But, my guess is that, with that many already in your arsenal, the SSL one won't add anything new or substantially different. But, it's a great and (seemingly) lightweight saturator for $19 (I personally wouldn't pay full price for it, though).dermage wrote: Wed Jan 12, 2022 7:12 pmHow does it compare to newer releases like Kelvin, Overstayer, VSM-4, BlackBox HG2/MS, Neold BigAl, Eylsia Phil's Cascade, Pulsar Modular P42?cryophonik wrote: Wed Jan 12, 2022 5:21 pm I'm sorta surprised that the SSL X-Saturator $19.99 deal has created a stir. If you own Kelvin you're set for saturation flavours and tweaking. Then what maybe another 1 or 2 to add very specific character if you know the sound of that saturation and distinguish it. But your mix chain can only hold so many saturators before implodes.. so you certainly dont need SSL Saturator based on what you already own.
How does it compare? Its a rather limited flavour I found, sounds perfectly fine and can drive but knobs dont dial as nicely on it, I found values were too broad and constantly needing to balance for gain compensation and go back and forth made it a bit tiresome.
The modern problem is not being able to settle on one or two tools for the job because we have a shed full of same and competing options and we end up using a bit of this and forgetting we had a bit of that tool. Ends up far less efficient in my experience, and a confused mix too. Best thing is settle on the best of the lot and stick with them for the actual mixing.

With Cubase AI, you definitely get the latest version. And, for LE, I lately got a free upgrade offer to the latest version... even though I don't even own LE anymore.[0_0] wrote: Tue Jan 11, 2022 1:49 pm Those Cubase LE/AI keys, do they have a version number? UVI is having sale on Shade for $64.
I have been looking for a creative modulation sidechaining filters plugin and I think this is it.
Anyone here can tell me what this sells for used around here and any alternatives? Is this the real deal? I love and hate lfo tool. Love it because so simple. Hate it because its too simple and not enough parameters to link to create dynamic filters.

Well, I have Black Box HG2 (not MS version) and I really love this plugin. I use IVGI or Sat Knob too, that are freeware. But my favorites are Black Box and the Neutron Exiter module (it has great saturation options).dermage wrote: Wed Jan 12, 2022 7:12 pmHow does it compare to newer releases like Kelvin, Overstayer, VSM-4, BlackBox HG2/MS, Neold BigAl, Eylsia Phil's Cascade, Pulsar Modular P42?cryophonik wrote: Wed Jan 12, 2022 5:21 pm I'm sorta surprised that the SSL X-Saturator $19.99 deal has created a stir. Thank you. I am demoing it now. So far impressed. alot here and going to take a bit to fully understand it all. Anyone know if they do vouchers or any more discounts to stack on this sale? I think I am going to end up springing on this deal either way.gondii wrote: Thu Jan 13, 2022 7:03 pmLowest I've seen. But I've found you can only demo it if you start a trial subscription with this Gobbler *§*"%.
Is it as bad as it was in the past?
Why can't they do simple Ilok demos for all plugins as everyone else.
