Waverazor in Bitwig only showing up as audio

Greetings.

I wanted to demo Waverazor today, but after installing, it's only showing up as an audio effect in BitWig (4.0..

Oddly, it's listed as "Category: Instrument" in the tiny info box (lower-right), but the icon shows audio-only and when I add it to a new track, it's in an audio track. If I drag the VST to an instrument track, it does not respond to MIDI, and even clicking on the keyboard in the GUI does not produce sound (though the oscilloscope is a flat line, regardless of which patch I load, so perhaps there is a problem with the content).

Any thoughts as to how I might get around this?

(I should add: I am also demoing Abyss, and that shows up correctly and works fine. ...so this seems specific to MOK.)

...Also, if I DO load it an an effect, and run audio through it, I get nothing. (But maybe only some patches "should" work as an effect? I didn't try many.)

Waverazor has two different plugins that can be installed, Waverazor and WaverazorFX. For use with Bitwig, I would recommend not installing the FX version, if you have already done that, you should be able to reinstall, and choose not to install the FX version. In the about box of Waverazor (click the logo on the top left) will tell you which one of the plugin variations is running. Also confirm that you have the latest version, v2.6.0.

Thanks. That didn't fix the problem I was having, but I *did* get it to show up in BitWig by using the "Show NNN redundant plug-ins" button at the bottom of the browser.

...However, once I loaded it, the waveform display is still empty. There's a box near the top of the window, just right of center, that says "NO SOUND" and when I click on that, it says "NOT REGISTERED."

...Clearly I've done something wrong. Shouldn't the demo have sound?

Nevermind. I guess I had to click on the "gear" icon, enter my account info, and then click on "Register" (NOT "Register Online").

If I may say so:

...this is very strange and not at all clear. This user experience could be greatly improved. For example:

The synth shouldn't open without a dialog telling me I am unregistered. Having to click on the gear was COMPLETELY non-obvious.

I am not "registering," I am "demoing." The terminology made me not think to click on the button.

I would have expected some instructions on this process SOMEWHERE.

Good point on the UI not making it clear that you need to Register (or more specifically 'Authorize') the plugin in order to hear sounds. I had thought the box in the top-left (under the logo) would clue folks into that, since it says NO SOUND, UNREGISTERED, but as you point out, it may not be obvious when you just want to demo things. I'll give that some further thought, your comments will make things better for future users, as you have already figured it out

Regarding Bitwig, I use that DAW quite a lot, and haven't had any trouble finding Waverazor, though you are correct that Bitwig hides the VST2 in favor of the VST3 if both are on the system.

Yes, I clearly did something wrong during my first installation process. I think it MIGHT have been that I installed Waverazor LE *first*, and then tried the demo. ...Maybe. The thing is, when I uninstalled LE and then re-installed the full version, the "regirstration" process immediately switched Waverazor back to the LE version. There was no "LE" under the name of the synth (top left) before registration, and there was after. Odd.

BTW: that is another strange thing, at least to me. The way the "real" Waverazor shows up in the installer with an unexpected name... something like "Editor version" or something like that? I would have expected "full" or perhaps "demo" in the name.

In hindsight, I wish I'd skilled the "free" version, but in my excitement I thought "oooh, there's also a free version, I may as well grab that!" I admit, I'm now pretty confused about the whole thing. :\

But, in the end, it worked out. I do like the synth, it's on my wishlist now. I'm sure I'll be buying the full version soon.

Oh, that sounds really confusing, and maybe we didn't message that well enough. There is no difference in the installers or Waverazor itself. Demo, LE, and Full/Editor are all the same plugin, it just authorizes depending on which one you have in your account. With Tracktion, you get a 30 day demo of the FULL version. In Demo mode, you can try out everything, if you don't buy it, then at the end of the 30 days, the authorization will fall back to LE mode.
