Hi, about this new super release, does exist a "workaround" to get Connector working with old platforms/DAW maybe through Patchwork ? thx in advance!

PS... here first workstation with PT HD Accel and so on 10.9.5 bla bla, second and new workflow with M1 Pro and last PT ; ) :D

Post

We still support MAC OS 10.9, so it should indeed be possible, just like we did share plug-ins between Mac and Windows in this tutorial.

My first tests reveal severe problems with Midi. I get tons of missing and stuck notes. I feed it with my LinnStrument, which does produce a lot of Midi data, but that must not be a problem. I guess I have to workaround with IAC…
I am on Mojave btw. and sometimes it seems to be fine but mostly not…

Will do a test later, thx!

Dear Blue Cat Audio,

From the first feedbacks I have from Gig Performer users, Connector seems to work very well. Any plan to extend this approach to the iPad? (competitors like Studiomux or MusicIO are by far not reliable enough for music on stage).

Great start with the app, but there are some pretty large omissions off the bat.

- you definitely need support for Bonjour, setting up Connector by IP is an absolute pain.

- direct Thunderbolt connection between 2 Macs does not allow communication with default 8080 port - at the very least I would suggest a preset that uses the same ports as AUNet (52800)

Keep up the good work!

You have to place the BC connector before the instrument. Not all DAWs allow this. Reaper is able to do this. For example in Ableton Live I used two tracks - one midi track with BC connector for sending Midi out to a VSTi track in Reaper and another audio track in Live with BC connector to route the audio back from Reaper into Live. On the Reaper side I created a track with 2 BC connectors and the VSTi. The first BC connector has to be placed before the VSTi - this one receives Midi from Ableton Live. The second BC connector is placed after the VSTi and sends the audio back to Ableton Live. I wasn't successful with Midi routing regarding Logic yet. Frankly it might be easier to use a separate program for creating virtual Midi ports and use BC connector only for routing back the audio from another DAW. This should work with any DAW.
Thx for the detailed instructions! :tu:

I just tried this (as you noted above.. between Ableton Live and Reaper).. and my VSTi in Reaper is properly playing the midi notes from the Ableton Live midi track. But I can`t get Reaper to record any of the midi notes that I hear. :help:

EDIT: Finally got it working by creating a new project + track(s) and recording both audio and midi on separate tracks. Thx m8!

Even when I put connector on a separate midi track and then route that track to an instrument I can’t get this to work.
Were you able to get midi into Live? Or even vice-versa?

Sorry; duplicate post. :dog:

We currently have no plans for iOS, but who knows. If the intent is to deliver audio thru Wifi, there is however no chance that you can get reliable streaming.

panspOrmia wrote: Mon Jan 24, 2022 6:29 am I have pre-recorded midi notes being sent from a midi track in Ableton Live into a synth in Reaper. The synth in Reaper is responding when I hit PLAY in Live.. and I`m able to record audio within Reaper. However, I`m unable to record the midi notes within Reaper.. that are coming in from Ableton Live. When I open a separate new Reaper project, recording a midi track works fine.

Could BC Connector be blocking Reaper from recording midi notes that are being sent from Ableton Live? If so, what settings can I change in BC Connector to allow midi to be recorded within Reaper? Thx!
I guess that Reaper won't record MIDI notes because they are delivered by a plug-in. To record them on a track you will have to create a separate track and select the output of the plug-in as INPUT for this track.

I am recording midi from Cantabile into Reaper
Reaper is setup with just one track with Connector on it. Record Output (MIDI) and input MIDI (all channels) are the two relevant track settings (and record :) )
But Reaper wont record midi and audio on the same track at the same time, so you cant have a synth playing on the Reaper track and record that at the same time as record the midi driving the synth on the same track. It is not a problem to send the midi to another track tho so you can have the midi playing the synth and recording its output on one track, then route the midi from that synth track to another track and record the midi there a the same time.

That's a clever plugin! I bet a lot of people will find it useful.

I bought 'Blue Cat's Connector' without having tested with Logic Pro X 10.7.2 (Rosetta) and suddenly it does not work. I'm on Mac Mini M1 with Big Sur 11.6.1. I tested with Mashine 2 and Gig Performer, it works but not with Logic Pro X -> Send App with Receive App...
An idea or a tip,
My test, 2 Audio tracks, Insert plugin 'send' to audio 1 and Insert plugin 'receive' to audio 2 but always waiting connecting...
