I use Reaper but stopped using the EQ long ago for modulation as it had errors that caused jumps as against smooth transitions - might be fixed now tho. But if you must pay for something then https://www.toneboosters.com/tb_dualvcf_v1.html is simple, cheap and good.

Also browse around https://www.tokyodawn.net/tdr-vos-slickeq/ they have at least two freebies worth looking at

Dr. Device. (Name based on the weapon from Ender’s Game) It’s a really good one, but sadly they discontinued it.
That does indeed look like just the thing... shame it's no longer available :(

Regarding Reaper... there's nothing in there I'm aware of that's really going to cut the mustard for the kind of effect I'm looking for, not without a lot of tweaking anyway.

If the filter in your DAW isn't really all that great try using this one for free.

Add a delay after and you can do all kinds of nice stuff :)

Looks like you're sitting on a lot of decent effects.

Thank you! I came across that, then promptly forgot the name of it and couldn't find it again!

They are simple, high quality effects that you can 'snap' together to make just the effect you are looking for. The delay snapin is free as an intro ( https://kilohearts.com/products/kilohearts_toolbox#free ) and their Non-Linear filter on sale for $10.
Thanks for that... these look really good, innovative but at the same time not over-complicated, good stuff!

https://www.native-instruments.com/en/p ... s/replika/

Replika has a clean and dirty mode and is pretty easy to use. It's not a bad price too! Also once you master this you can get a upgrade to Replika XT which has been my go-to delay for a while now. As a bonus you also have a diffusion effect for reverb style effects.

If you just want a nice clean delay with a minimal set of controls then this is the one.
https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/prod ... delay.html

It's got a artifact free delay buffer. So you'll get back what you put in and then if you want you can apply filters, drive etc and what not as you want. It also has a unique modulation system if you want to get a bit experimental.
I thought the name replika sounded familiar.... there's a replika GR in the Guitar Rig 6 effects, which I use sometimes... but the dedicated Replika delay looks like a bigger beast... and the XT looks sublime!

The guys at Kilohearts have really great stuff!
Their free Snap Heap plugin is really awesome as well, it comes with a lot of presets and you can use them even if you don't have the snapin modules
