I'm still actively working on development pretty much daily. The next (huge) update is impending.

Assumming development stopped ( which it didn't ) , there is no reason to move on .
Architect is a program that will remain in my toolbox forever , even in it's current state

Just wanted to chime in and say that I’m looking very much forward to the update :) architect is amazing!!

Can Architect run as a stand-alone and as a VSTi and VSTfx
As a VST2 and VST3?

Can Architect host both VSTi and VSTfx and VST2 and VST3?

Just want to make sure about the "VSTi and VSTfx"
So the virtual cables can be midi or audio?

Post

As a plug-in, it runs as a VSTi: that is, it can output audio but at the moment doesn't accept audio input.

It can host VST2 and VST3, both VSTi and VSTfx.

There is currently no released VST3 Architect version, mainly because VST3 doesn't support MIDI output (it barely supports MIDI input!) But despite the fact you can't use route much in the way of MIDI to or from VST3 Architect, it does still work fine as a host, so I'll probably release the VST3 version in the next update.

That is no longer true.
For instance the Midi sequencer plugin Stochas is VST3 only.
I can't remember if it was a VST3 API update from Steinberg or if there are new workarounds.
Stochas is open source now, so you could have a look.
KVR user "baconpaul" of Stochas, Bespoke and Surge fame is deeply involved in these things and would probably be able to give you some hints if needed.

(I personally do not care about VST3 since I use Bitwig, but Cubase users will soon be desperate... ;-) )

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks: that's wonderful news. Good to know Steinberg have changed tact on this. I'll take a look at the latest VST3 API and Stochas and see what's what.

Of course this is something for the (not so distant) future, but I think he makes a good argument (if you skip over some of the more silly questions... ;-) ).
MFM 2.5 is the first plugin released in this format, the first DAW(s) supporting it is/are expected soonish.

On the day Steinberg forbids developers to have any VST2 code in their repos (which is approaching quickly), it may become a life saver even, depending on how you work...

Cheers,

Tom

A good release now is better than a perfect release in the future, they say.

Working hard on it, and it's getting ever closer, but still not quite there yet. But I'll be happy to let a select group get "early access" before I go public, as I know there are a lot of people eager to get their hands on it.
