I have T1 - T2 or Sonar for staff view?

I own T1 - I really need a staff (traditional 5-line) screen to do some composing and am looking at Sonar instead.

BUT - I love T1 and will go with T2 if it has this.

Has anyone heard anything about this feature? Even Home Studio has it (which I do have, but it's a bear to use)

Nobody knows whats gonna be (or not be) included in T2. Anything right now is just speculation. I personally would doubt Jules put a notation system in the midi clips. But who knows. Thats just my opinion.

Is there some kind of workaround for this, a vst plug or seperate software that lets you edit in staff and then send the midi to the piano roll. ?

Isnt that what Sibelius does? I havent tryed it myself.

There have got to be tonnes of notation software (Freeware, or at least shareware, even!) that will let you compose in notation and then create MIDI out of it. PowerTAB is more for tablature, but it has notation and MIDI implementation (not 100% sure if there's MIDI export, haven't tried), and it's free.

Try http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/composer/ Iv'e been using this software for years as a sketch pad for various notation needs. Can't beat the price of it compared to Sibeleus and Finale and some others. Doesn't work as a plugin but you can export the midi and then import it into T. Also, I've used Bidule as a VST host and then routed the midi outputs to Noteworthy composer which allows me to get playback for a specific VST instrument.

oops I should have said freeware , powertab looks cool but I need piano score form. I know 40 bucks US isn't a lot for Noteworthy but it is to me right now.

As far as I'm concerned Tracktion should have a score editor if it wants to play in the upper league. Besides, it's the only reason why I have to launch Cubase occasionally - that and for proper Punch Recording.

I know Jules is one busy guy, but couldn't he delegate that duty to someone else,or maybe thats not the way he wants to run things. Mackie should supply extra programmers for those sorts of details while he has the excecutive power .

I guess that's one option. Although I would be surprised if Jules actually liked that idea. As I know him, he likes to do his stuff himself.

There's always going to be a feature that people want, and this is the first I've heard of a score editor being a truly sought-after feature. Since T2's price point is still likely to be value-for-money, you can easily take the money saved and buy a dedicated notation software if notation is your thing. Use MIDI out and MidiYOKE and you can still play it in Tracktion (or so I assume, I've never actually tried). Or, worst case scenario, export the MIDI. Drag'n'Drop from the notation program would be handy for this, mind you.
