Please note there is no automatic software update for 11.1.

A native remote app for automation, remote recording and such would also be awesome.

My guess is though that it's all ATMOS from here on out.
I just want to be able to set the bend range in Simpler. :?
It is a weird limitation, but if you draw you bends you can use note expression pitch envelopes instead, which goes up to 48 semitones.

I can't seem to get Live 11.1 to scan my VST2 folder, full of sub-folder links to various VSTs, scattered around my computer.

Is there a trick? It always worked before.

Considering how many VST2 nplugins I have installed, it could be a f*cking nightmare situation unless someone knows of a workaround. It could turn my nice neat folder structure into a total mess. That's assuming I can even reinstall everything to one folder.

For example. The following is no longer getting scanned.

C:\VST Plug-In Custom Folder\4Front Technologies\"C:\Program Files\VSTPlugIns\TruePianos x64.dll"

A path with a drive letter embedded in it? Not surprised, how the f**k did that ever work?

Nope. That didn't help.

@Aloysius, Just a quick question… have you tried rebooting?

Yes. Thanks. Not related but I also rebuilt my database.

Maybe it's a directory with a shortcut in it? In which case see the post about symlinks on the previous page.

Post

Yeah. A folder, with company named folders inside, with links inside them.

Always worked before.

I'll take a peek at the previous page. I wasn't paying attention to the Thread until this happened. Now I'm VERY interested. :)

I'm on Windows 10 by the way.

I'm on a mac M1 but I also had problem scanning my vst2 with 11.1 ...have you tried to turn off and back on vst2 in preferences/plu-gins ? That did the job for me...

Post

Yes. I even renamed my main link folder so Live wouldn't see it and then restarted with name changed back so Live would do a fresh scan.

Just did a quick search and found something on reddit.
Beta 11.1b3 for Windows: VST2 plugins can't be referenced through shortcuts anymore

tl;dr — Shortcuts to VST2 plugins files don't work anymore in latest Beta; VST2 plugins still loading fine if the actual VST2 folder is referenced in settings now; LES is a better way of organising plugins and devices

If you’re on Windows, you could so far use the neat 'feature' (undocumented, but still worked) that you created your own VST2 plugin structure, by creating a folder somewhere with sub-folders and shortcuts to plugins instead of pointing Live directly to your VST2 folder. In settings you would just point Live to the new folder with the shortcuts instead, and you could have categories and sub-categories for your VST2 plugins. This way you were able to categorise your VST2 plugins in a better way than Live’s browser with its few favourites collections, e.g. Effects>EQ>ProQ3, Synths>Pads>Omnisphere etc. This already didn't work for VST3 plugins.

With the latest Beta (and upcoming full version) of Live 11 on Windows, they changed their plugin scanning system, and obviously disabled the posibiliy to point to VST2 plugins via shortcuts. It now needs to be the folder with the actual plugin dll files inside.

Good news pt. 1: Plugin references are still valid, i.e. Live will load your VST2 plugins just fine when you open a set with the new settings.

Good news pt. 2: Still the best alternative way of organising plugins, samples, any searchable item in Ableton Live is using Live Enhancement Suite. It takes a bit of setting up, but you can use a double right-click menu to have your very own structure of plugins, Live devices, presets in a menu that even supports UTF-8 icons. And that's only one of the features of LES. You’ll find a documentation for LES on their website, and once you got your first categories and plugins/references added, adding more is just a breeze. I barely ever use Live’s browser directly to load up plugins, or even NI Kontakt instruments, as you can save the latter as .vstpreset since Kontakt is now also a VST3 plugin.

Attached is an example of my very own right-click menu in LES.

No idea what that's all about yet. I'll have to read it and the info' from the previous page of this Thread.

Yeah, but a shortcut on windows isnt named after the entire path of the shortcut, in fact it defaults to the file or directory name of the shortcut. Filenames cant contain : or \

Shortcuts dont work, but junction points do...

You've got to use symlinks apparently as a workaround now in 11.1

Guide to doing so here: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/c ... -or-linux/

Alternatively make your long term life a lot easier and just stick all your VST2s in [various subfolders of ] c:\Program Files\VSTPlugins and point Ableton to that location
