I would narrow the category to what could be called LoFi channel strips - which would include RC-20, Vybz, Lifeline Expanse, and Waves Retro-Fi. Not sure if there are any others to lump in. Seems like the major advantage of these over individual plugins is the same as any channel strip, workflow and having them all in one interface. But imho, superior individual components can all be found elsewhere.Ceej wrote: Sat Feb 05, 2022 9:10 am A more direct comparison to RC-20 would be Baby Audio's Super VHS. Might also consider the new Lifeline Expanse in that kind of category. I guess you'd have to put Thenatan's Vybz in there too, although for whatever reason that brand has always made me wary.

Hmm, Waves Retro-Fi has a lot of advantages over RC-20: realistic emulation of tape and vinyl saturation (not separately though, just as a complete decade-specific signal chain), realistic era-specific compression, ability to control left/right wow and wobble separately, many more noise types, etc. No bitcrush though. Aside from that it seems Retro-Fi has more potential and is more realistic but with RC-20 it might be easier to dial in a decent sound. Might get RC-20 for the wobble, bitcrush, and relatively easy resale policy if I don't like/use it enough. (Then again, with all the new competition, Splice offering it as a rental, and lots of people buying during the flash sale, IDK if it will be all that easy to sell.)

Does anyone here have problems with online purchases on native instruments website?
I used to receive the product in native access and my account within minutes, now it takes them days.

Anyone have experience with Caelum Labs Tape Pro? It looks like it includes a bunch of flavours and is nice to look at. Currently part of the PA sale.
Tbh. I wanted to get Goodheartz Wow Control since some time but I never could justify the price, since it just do stuff I can already do a bit more nicely. Maybe I should just cave and get it.

I didn't see anyone reporting this as used but I just tried it and it didn't work, so apparently someone did. If someone else has one and is willing to PM me I'd be grateful.kevinsparks wrote: Thu Feb 03, 2022 11:08 pm here's a free Analog Lab Intro. let us know you claimed it so i can delete it

I heard the spring reverb is craptastic, though - the delay is just passable... But I will probably get the Acoustic Feedback as I've been waiting for a sale and this is the cheapest it's ever been.

I was somewhat underwhelmed by the Acoustic Feedback. I guess I wanted something that sounded like... feedback, like you'd get if you were playing at high volume. But although when it worked it sounded good, it never sounded natural - the pitch of the feedback would sometimes change suddenly, and other times it would be really hard to get the feedback to kick in at all. Even for $10 it annoyed me too much for me to want to use it. Ultimately, it felt gimmicky which might suit some people, but not me.MogwaiBoy wrote: Mon Feb 07, 2022 9:22 pmBut I will probably get the Acoustic Feedback as I've been waiting for a sale and this is the cheapest it's ever been.

Yeah the only plugin that does decent feedback effects is Ohmicidecprompt wrote: Mon Feb 07, 2022 10:27 pmI was somewhat underwhelmed by the Acoustic Feedback.
