Clip audio files missing

I just opened a project in waveform free to find 2 clips with missing files in the clips. I have not altered or changed these files in any way. Is this a common issue?

The only time I've seen a similar issue is when I've accidently moved the underlying file. I think I'm right in saying that if you drag and drop a file from the browser into an edit, it only creates a link to the underlying file and doesn't create a copy in the project itself. (Having learnt the hard way, I now import a copy into the project first and then add it to the edit. )

Just to be sure, check that the original files are still in the same place you think they are!

I've had this happen frequently with REX files. I've always had the files copied to the edit folder. I fixed it by not using REX files anymore unless they were used within a sampler plugin.
