it will be easier if i have the presets,but anyway like the sound and will try to make my modification based on that picture - maybe slow attack,some keytrack and reso dynamic,other magic tricks...

I have noticed that Largo (V 1.7.4) doesn't report value changes to the host when switching presets. Tested with Cubase 11 and Nektarine.

Can anyone confirm this?

If you tell me exactly how to reproduce that, I could try it in Studio One 4 on Win 10.

Thanks. Not really sure how to check it in Studio One, however I got a reply from Waldorf confirming that is the case and that it was passed to the development team. We'll see when and if it will get fixed.

I made a patch randomizer for Largo in Pure Data.
can randomize per section or all at one.
there is a slew time for the new values and a random trigger sequence that triggers each section at various intervals.
I used some curves to keep the values in a usable range (not generating silence)

I just took a few moments to download this today. Once I also downloaded that Pd-L2Ork it worked a treat! As an FYI to others... this does run 'stand alone' and you need to 'pipe' the midi into your DAW (Studio One in my case) with something like loopMidi and send it to your Largo track.

I spent a few moments with it and had some real enjoyable results. There is a slider at the bottom that controls the overall amount of randomization. Tonight I was interested in more esoteric sounds and soundscapes and got a couple nice ones with this. Not sure if you wanted slight variations on say on a bass sound you like how well this would work (yet), so I would approach this as more experimental .

For me, the Largo interface isnt very inviting, though I love some of the sounds that thing can still make, so this has given me a reason to drop it on some tracks again.

the sounds you get really depend on the setting in the preset that you start with. I’ve had some decent results with basses, making variations of some old-school industrial patches. most often I just have it morphing an atmospheric sound and then stop it when I find something I like or record it for sampling later. it will hit some pretty noisy spots too which make really good samples for the music I like to make.

Largo is a great synth, but I feel like it suffers from a bad preset browser and not the prettiest / easy to grasp interface. Anyone else hopeful for a GUI update?

But you're right, the preset browser is pretty infuriating. To be fair, preset browsers seem really hard to get right. ...Sadly, the best one I've seen in on a synth I would probably never buy (Nexus 4).

yes, one of the three flaws of the synth. next to the small gui and the lack of any master volume section.
and to the question my answer is: not me. ^^ sadly enough, cos i like that synth.

Add the overly-quantized parameters , where sometimes a sweet spot can't be fine tuned, e.g. 5 is too little and 6 too much.

Dunno if we can expect an update for Largo anymore. It's been so long, and, they didn't release a M1 native version either. Unless something really surprising happens, this is dead, I'm afraid.

It's just that it's so good that it would be a shame if it didn't get further upgrades to stay compatible with current tech.

Anyway, as I'm on Windows, and it works, and it will continue to do so, I guess I don't even have to care.

It's on sale for 29 $ (on audioplugin deals) and now I wonder - is it really worth ? ?

I mean, yeah, I'm rebuilding my synth library / collection from scratch. I have classic, analog part covered (Arturia V Lab, Syntronik CS etc.) but when it comes to digital thing I have some true oldies like:
- Dune 1 xD, Sylenth, Massive :p
and ... free Vital that I actually really like. That's probably the only one in my collection that somehow touches wavetables (long time ago I also had Terratec Komplexer ;p)

And I wonder, if a synth from 2009 (?) such as Waldorf Largo is actually better than rather new, freebie such as Vital ?

I heard somewhere that on some deals it was sold with some extra patches (because the factory ones are .. crap ;p) but not sure if it applies to audioplugin deals
