The fl studio limiter has the most promise I have seen but the points to control it are just too simplified. If they'd scaled the control points so that it was on a slower grade it would be perfect, but it's not. Always was dissapointed by that, because it's very close.

However, the c4 and the c6 waves are good for that. The c6 comes to mind as being more audible with the effect and the c4 more polished and professional sounding, due to the lack of linear algebra filters. Crossover just sounds more natural with less edge if the filter has a slight hop. There are a few linear maths that contradict that though.

Tone boosters compressor 4 looks good and the pricing is competitive also. That's cool.
I don't make audio products anymore. I sell furniture & smart products.

TDR Kotelnikov GE (the paid version) does true upward compression, and IMHO does it very well. A great mastering compressor!

Interesting little tool. No demo though and a bit price-y. Do you would say it's worth the bucks? I have similar tools but wonder how this holds up against.
It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

Actually the Ableton Live manual describes the different ways of dynamic treatment quite well

well it depends on your needs. It is extreme - like close to distortion (or even full on distortion), always very loud. It's more of a sound design tool than mixing tool. it has presets named 'ott on steroids' and 'hurt me plenty' and these names don't lie ;-) There's a wet/dry control to tame it a little bit, multiband option. If you're into hard electronic or maybe hybrid cinematic stuff, you want some industrial drums or crushed basses than it's very cool. But for mixing duties or typical upward compression imo there are far better options.
If you're a person who finds use for kombinat, supercharger, punish, ott, sausage fattener or the likes you'll be at home with argent. If you find above mentioned gimmicks than argent is pretty much the same :)

Oh nice i need to demo that

Blue Cat's Dynamics:

Both the upward and downward section ratios are 1:1 at 12:00 so you just turn the respective knob in the opposite direction to get upward expansion or compression.

Waves max volume is good and quick. All the melda compressors can do up and downward, the onboard Bitwig dynamics device is good for it as well. I usually use one of those of I need upward compression. There are many more out there. I find that a very little bit of upward compression goes a very long way.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

I use sometimes Aberrant DSP's ShapeShifter or Live's Mulitband Dynamics for similar task but I do not like how they impact on the phase of a signal. Argent compressor can also operate without splitting the signal right? Really annoying there is no demo. However, how is this different to expander in mode in Live's compressor for example? Thanks ... Ah and how is CPU? Probably quite low I assume. Resizable?

I tried Aberrant ShapeShifter but it somehow didn't impress me.

Argent can do fullband and multiband. In multiband phase is of course really bad :) I don't have Live but if it can do ott than it can probably do many different destruction type of things.
Unfortunatelly argent is not resizable. It also has limiter or clipper at the end of its chain and it pushes into them so almost always distort or pump. This is why I wrote it is a one trick aggro pony.

Example says more than words so here you can listen for yourself what we are dealing with here:

first is a clean loop and than a little fun with argnet (100% wet). It of course can be done with other tools, no magic here. For me its strength is speed. Turn it on, move few knobs and you know whether it will work for the sound or not.
