But as you all know, It is a purely subjective sensation that should not harm and influence anybody in any case. See it as a kind of " vegan belief " or if you wish a " Vegan cult " A knowledge, whether it is true or not. It is, however so unimportant that it might not be written at all.
Only a few have the right of course but that could "break the mold" and life is much too short to speculate about "conspi theoremz" which in this case I'm shuddering to write about because then its going such a complicated direction but you know what I mean.
Which plugin has done the most damage to audio quality?

With OTT it's the lemming mentality thing though, isn't it; People arbitrarily using certain plugins, regardless of whether the sound they impart fits with the mix. Apparently it's more important to have "that" signature to your sound than having a coherent-sounding song.
Sonnox Inflator also comes to mind.

An idiot on Set Theory:

Wha point are ya ta-wying ta make?MogwaiBoy wrote: Sat Feb 12, 2022 9:56 pm We all know them - those popular but powerful plugins that, in the wrong hands, can be hugely destructive.
I'll start: OTT
A recent thread about OTT alternatives reminded me of this Soundgooderizer alternative![]()
People (largely the EDM crowd) have used this on individual channels, then buses, and then even the master... it truly is Over The Top. As a special effect, sure - but as a shortcut to good mix balancing practices, you gotta be kidding. If used in a heavy-handed manner, OTT is a surefire way to obliterate natural dynamics, punch and even phase coherence.
How could you, Xfer...

It's actually not that bad on a bass track and can be used creatively, but you've gotta be f*cking mental to try on an entire mix, it screws with the phase coherence so much.LeVzi wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 8:01 am I've never used OTT tbh ,
but after all this, im tempted to try it.

It's not even about linear vs. minimal phase, it's just that OTT invites heavy-handed approach and it cannot compare with a few small tweaks with a minimal phase EQ. It's like cutting an apple with a hacksaw, it can be done technically, but it's not really a good practice.

apple was the worst thing to happen to music until beats audio came along. apple plus beats is devastation to audio. as far as plug ins go, ill throw izotope in the arena.

It’s really just two 24dB crossovers.crickey13 wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 8:44 am It's not even about linear vs. minimal phase, it's just that OTT invites heavy-handed approach and it cannot compare with a few small tweaks with a minimal phase EQ. Any multiband processor without linear phase crossover will destroy phase the same
