Hello Everybody

Curious to know if there are ways and/or plugins to make filter sweeps and effects in Tracktion without using live Automation.

Trying add add filter effect (low to high) to House Music track.

I am aware some other DAWS have this capability but currently not knowledgeable on the process.

Thank you.

If I am correctly understanding what you are asking for, the basic technique is usually to modulate the cutoff frequency of a bandpass filter with an envelope.

This is usually a function of the instrument plugin rather than the DAW, though some DAWs (including Waveform) offer modulation systems that tie into the automation hooks of the plugins and can be used to add modulators such as envelopes where the plugin itself does not offer them - you would still need an instrument with a bandpass filter.

For a low to high sweep, you would want a very slow attack time on the filter, sustain at 100% with an "instant" release.

For a high to low sweep, you would want "instant" attack, sustain at 0% with a very slow decay time.

4OSC and Subtractive are both capable of this, for example.

The AutoFilter plug-in that is part of the Tracktion DAW Essentials Collection has a built in LFO/modulator that can be sync'd to your song tempo or set manually. Here's the details on the Tracktion website

Excellent!

Thank you for the information.

There are the built-in modifiers (orange icon next to the red clip and gray plugin icons), but these tend to affect the whole track at once. I find it easier to use automation in my case, where it's just an effect here or there.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

When you add a modifier you are asked what parameter it should control. It will then control that parameter across the entire track, but only that parameter.

However, you can apply automation to the modifiers as well - for example, automate LFO depth to limit its effect to certain time regions.

If an entire effect should be limited to a portion of a track (containing audio), there is also the possibility of applying the effect plugin to the clip instead of to the track as a whole, then you can apply modifiers to the plugin on the clip as appropriate.
