This begins to sound like the Mac vs. Windows fights, where everybody has Stockholm Syndrome. :D

I take back my comment. Voxengo looks as professional as Fabfilter.
If you plan on purchasing your first Universal Audio hardware, you can get a free additional plugin. Just send a PM.

Voxengo looks more professional than MeldaProduction.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

I don't know about "unprofessional" (professionals work with some software which has butt ugly, and bad GUI's...), but, Voxengo are surefly not my favorite GUI's. They're not totally terrible, but, they're far from good either. Neither the colours, nor the design of the elements, nor the layout are perfect.

Examples of some near perfect GUI's for me: NI's Replika XT, Sylenth1's Xenolith skin, Spire's Dark Theme skin, Serum, or Pigments. Those are all clear, well laid out, with a tasteful colour choice, and well made space decisions.

There are many, many examples of bad design choices in audio software though. Shows again how small the companies are, and how much the budget plays a role.

U-he also had some so-so GUI choices in the past. But, the latest Hive and Zebra 2 GUI's are really good, so, they definitely upped their game in that regard.

Voxengo have upped their game too. Remember the old grey GUIs? At least now they have a consisent look that's not the worst in the world imho.

Whilst the functional aspects are there the overall design is sub-optimal. The eye is blasted with the complementary yellow meter/purple-blue contrasts, mainly due to the size of the meters. The meters on the knobs are functional but combined with the knob design visually very aggressive. Solution: thin out the meters substantially and simplify the knobs. That would do. If skins exist like this then no problem.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Yeah, they're okay for sure. Not much to complain, although they're far from perfect. And, SPAN actually has a pretty good GUI.

If you don't like the Voxengo colour scheme it's completely customisable so not sure it's fair to say it's unprofessional because you choose not to customise it to your tastes

I'm reading a book about Stockholm Syndrome, I'll admit I hated it and first but now I'm really loving it.

(Ken Dodd joke).

Back on topic, do Plogue ever have sales other than Black Friday / Christmas?

I love orange Voxengo--very nice.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

True. I thought about some of the software we use at work, IT tools, some of the best/most expensive have guis not much of a step up from a command line interface, it's what they actually do that's important. We've had flashy DB monitors that looks like something Fabfilter would put out that were absolute pants behind the scenes. Judging a book by it's cover etc etc.

I use both extensively and love both very much. (I own all fx from both of them)

Voxengo plugins are tuned well and have a functional interface.

If you want to be obtuse and use an old screenshot of a freebie, you can do the same with Fabfilter, except fabfilter charges 50€ for this abomination:
