Oh cool. I feel an idiot now as I thought only the EX version of the Disting had a display. Maybe just wasn't showing in screenshots I'd seen. I'd prefer the EX, but it's wide and a lot more expensive.elxsound wrote: Mon Feb 21, 2022 1:18 pmSeems so…. Can Disting EX or the Ornament and Crime do that? I can use Hot Tuna in VCV, but would prefer something on the rack.

I might need to add one too. It was on my original module shopping list but I never pulled the trigger.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Mon Feb 21, 2022 1:45 pmOh cool. With wanting to work more out the box, this would make sense. Right now I’m using the tuner in Live.

It’s super cool and sounds great! It certainly has its limitations, but that also means it’s optimized to work quickly and easily. The pads feel great, but they are a little small and closely spaced, so I have to watch it when finger drumming.elxsound wrote: Mon Feb 21, 2022 1:21 pmI almost bought this a few times. They even almost got me with the “Noir” edition banners on KVR.cryophonik wrote: Mon Feb 21, 2022 6:08 am Getting funky this evening with my new Arturia DrumBrute Impact that I just stole off some local seller. So the guitar is freaking great. While the cost may not be worth it for many, to me it was, definitely. In any event, I would think that the less expensive G&L Tribute series might be worth a look for those seeking an alternative to the Fender Tele/Strat etc. for somewhere between the cost of the MN 0-coast and Strega.

awesome stuff!justin3am wrote: Sun Feb 20, 2022 6:45 am I put the finishing touches on this Frac system tonight.
I recorded a silly little self-playing patch.

I gotta say, this setup is a lot of fun. These modules may seem kinda primitive compared to modern eurorack stuff but they have a ton of character and sound great.
i agree my frac stuff is like the stone age compared to my euro, and even with the minimum sized thing i have, there's so much to be found soundwise!
i do ocassionally think about something to bridge them, but then i think it's it's own monster, shouldnt locked down in euro land
although, i would like a euro weevil, just because!

Thanks! I've already had a lot of fun and I can't wait to get the Bug Brand stuff in on the action.
I wish I could have gotten a weevil but I'll probably end up with a Chirper at some point.

It just occurred to me that this setup is rather similar to Strega but with a Phaser instead of a LPF. The 2130 VCO sounds huge! Combined with the Quadrature Sine and the Dual Amplifier, it makes a great complex VCO with Thru-Zero FM. Here are some sounds:

Actually, the Strega delay IS a PT delay.vurt wrote: Tue Feb 22, 2022 2:12 pm the strega delay is very pt delay like!

It's voiced differently though. They sound pretty different and of course the PT Delay is more patchable. I also have a Sound of Shadows and the FieldKit FX which are all PT2399 based but they each hav their own character.

Yeah, I generally like PT2399 delays. They don't have much headroom and they get really gritty with long delay times but they aren't as prone to noise as BBDs.
I built a delay based on a PT2395 chip which is the PT2399's big brother. Apparently they aren't easy to get in quantity but I have a few of those chips. They use externally addressable memory, so they can have much longer delay times before they get crunch... also you can get awesome results from circuit bending the memory chip the delay has a high frequency clock input which makes it a lot of fun to clock with a 4046.

PT delays can sound pretty different from each other since the feedback path is analog. I don't know if it's just GAS, but from the demos I've listened to, the one in Strega seems to have a little something that the Lyra-8 and Befaco Crush don't.
One of these days I'm going to talk myself into shelving the Microfreak and putting a Strega there, aren't I?
