i remember being able to do phase distortion in the grid with the phase modules and hard sync as well but i cant remember how, i thought i saw some videos somewhere but cant find them, can anyone help?

(the hard sync was a different way from just turning the sync knobs on the oscillators, it allows you to use another sound as the sync source)

edit: the phase distortion is by turning the oscillator's pitch to 0, using the phasor module to modulate the osc's phase full modulation amount, then putting phase modules like bend etc between the phasor and the osc to bend the waveform like serum does. still interested in any tips

you can also do hard sync by putting the phase module 'sync' after the phasor. i think there was another way i did it too though where u can use an oscillator instead of the phase module, maybe something to do with the trigger input of the osc as sync is basically resetting the oscillator's wave back to the start at audio rate, i seem to remember i did it with the sampler too

Bitwig 4.2 Beta 3 is automatically opening the editor upon creating a new clip. My goodness this is giving me anxiety and hoping it's a bug not a new feature. Adding a clip quickly with a double click then moving and resizing it on arranger is my default workflow habit and would be a nightmare if it opened piano-roll or audio-editor every time. At least make it user-preference. 🙏🏻

Seems like a bug.
I had similar experience with 3.3 beta. Sometimes even official email doesn't work and I had to rant on twitter to catch their eyes. Report them until you get a reply :)

Cool... It's relatively easy using Note Grid to make a chord track and have other tracks follow it.

If you buy an Antelope interface now, you'll get Bitwig for free (as well as a modelling mic). :tu:

I joshing somewhat here, but I actually did get an Antelope Zen Tour SC with the Edge Solo mic and Bitwig. It's a great deal. :D

they do sales on it, usually in spring i think, but i wouldnt upgrade just for the phaser and flanger there are still better plugins for those, and theyre only in the beta atm and its expensive just for those 2 effects when there are good free and cheap ones
id upgrade for note grid though if youd use it at least when its not beta

that makes sense.
I purchased my B4 licence in november 21 and I have not upgraded since 4.1.1. nothing interesting for me and honestly the grid is not my cup of tea. I have been waiting for more options for a live orientated DAW as Abeton : more clips luanch options, better midi controlers min/max set up without the need of macros ....

Beta 4 here can not perform Bounce and Bounce In Place. The error message says "cannot open the file xxxxx". Anyone else got this?

Just. tried it in 4.2b4 running under macOS 12.2 Monterey, and it seems fine to me 🤷🏽

Ok, thanks. I will do some testing then to see if a bug may be related to third-party plugins used in this project.

I doubt there will be a change to using macros. That is the Bitwig way of doing it.

What sort of Live performance do you do? I suppose it depends on what live oriented means to someone, but I think the new Note Grid is a significant new feature for live performance possibilities.

For example, a couple days ago I set up a project where I play live chords on my midi controller and a bass track and arp track both follow the realtime chord changes. That is an excellent option for live performance.

I can also set up say a Drum Machine with sequenced clip and then only have the individual pads play their sequence when the corresponding note is held down on my midi controller. Lots of realtime performance potential is such a setup.

All sorts of live performance type stuff is possible using the Note Grid and fairly simple to use.

Well, I do need a different interface, and I could use a different mic. But since I'm recording from home and I have no way to properly perpare a room for audio recording I just wanted to get an sm7b. Plus, I don't really record anything but my voice and I have a dedicated preamp; I just need the new interface for a better headphone out :D . So sadly, this would be quite the unreasonable investment. It looks cool tho! What's the special selling point of these Antelope Zen interfaces? They come with (great?) low latency plugins for headphone mixes?

"The" main selling point, I think, would have to be the low clock jitter. Other selling points are the plug-ins, low latency (especially with Thunderbolt 3), and high quality preamps and AD/DA. The Zen Tour SC is $2K, so it's not cheap, but it does sound very sweet.
