In this video I show how you can use the EQ inside the sidechain inside melda compressors. With this you don't have to worry about isolating a kick drum, snare, etc. You can focus the compression on the part of the spectrum you want which can be really useful. I hope you find is useful too.

Great vid - many thanks Chandler! The EQ trick is excellent!

Q: What happens actually, if you use MD on one channel only, but you send a drum in the MD mixer to e.g. channel 3? Together with some Reaper magic there might be a way to side-chain the bass with bassdrum only. What do you think?

A: I haven't tried that, but it might actually work. I haven't dug into how to send audio into multiple tracks like that after the initial setup. I know it's possible, but I haven't looked into how to do it.
