What is the Integrator module in MXXX?

The manual nor pop up help doesn't reveal anything.

If you want to know more about a module, you can click the '?' in the module selection window on each category. For the Integrator module, it says:

Integrator produces a running sum of the input signal, which approximates the integral of it. It's designed for science stuff, but it can actually produce quite some cool distortion as well.

Although I still have now idea what you could do with it.
