As far as v15 is left available for download and one can install v15 alongside with v16 that's ok and even due for me.
If not... well I'd like to be able to load old projects that still use 32 bits versions and at the same time have newer 64 bit only plugins installed.

Running both at the same time may be a problem. Not about running them, it's about presets - the V16 will change the preset format, so it won't be readable by the old versions.

I'm wary of this decision to drop 32bit for the simple fact that old gear always sounds better. Now I have to endure pristine 64bit gear. Hopefully someone will clone the 32bit versions. Don't tell me they sound the same - I can hear your thoughts and they lack presence in the 5.253KHz region.

Anyone wanna buy some vintage 32bit plugins?

Assuming you've tested these, what kind of improvements are we talking? As well as that, would faster loading also mean better performance on some particularly sample-heavy MSF instruments because they'd load faster?MeldaProduction wrote: Tue Mar 08, 2022 2:46 pm meaning that it will use a different storage system (so way faster loading/saving of everything), which the old versions won't be able to read.
Not exactly privy to how most of this works, so I'm just wondering.

The enthusiasm for dropping 32-bit support....hmm, I wonder if the forced install-then-delete dance we've had to do all these years was calculated to bring a positive response to the plan.
Seriously, development and testing work aside, I'm just glad not to have to remember to go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3 every time I install a Meldaproduction update.
I'm sure that users will be able to download v15 if they wish to keep using their 32-bit systems. They'll miss out on new features, but isn't that part of the joy of continuing to run Windows 7 32-bit in 2022?
For a mixed setup like DarkStar suggests, maybe install the v15 32-bit ones as VST2's so that you can create a special VST32 folder that only your 32-bit DAW scans? I understand the issue with the kernel, but if you look in C:\Program Data\Meldaproduction\LIB, you'll see two versions of (what I think is) the kernel DLL, one 64 the other not. Maybe if you keep the non-64 DLL the 32-bit pluggies can coexist.

May I suggest MBitFun to restore that special presence that only aliasing can provide?Hexspa wrote: Thu Mar 10, 2022 4:33 pm I'm wary of this decision to drop 32bit for the simple fact that old gear always sounds better. I got my x86 plugins in a separate folder which my main DAW doesn't scan... and regarding presets, I have no need to share presets between them.MeldaProduction wrote: Thu Mar 10, 2022 10:19 am Running both at the same time may be a problem. So if I can continue having v15 x86 VST installed this way while using v16 in my main DAW it would suit me just fine.... which I assume you are saying should not be a problem? Just want to make it crystal clear that I got that right.

Yes, that sounds correct. I may be able to provide some crosscompatibility for presets too, but not sure yet.
