Inspired by your videos, I have gone back to finish editing a multisampled instrument I lost the will to finish before. I know deep multi sampling isn’t the point of your videos but I’m making a second weird layer to it based on some of your techniques in order to crossfade between the two with the mod wheel. I admire the courage of putting yourself out there and facing criticism - including critics that have not watched the material.Stukas Audio wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 6:56 pmThank you for the support. I hear you.enroe wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 8:02 pm No.
With a video, you force the user to submit to your time dictation.
He must follow the words in time and order. He cannot fast-forward
without fearing that he has missed an important point. Videos force
your style directly on the user.![]()
This is not the case with a clear text display: the user can scan the
text and hold on to diagrams. He can go through and understand the
text at his own pace.![]()
My reference to a text is not directed against you or your concerns.
No - it's just about bringing your concerns closer to as many people
as possible.![]()
And a text has another important advantage:
When you write a text, you have the chance to organize your thoughts
better and present them in an organized manner.![]()
There are YouTube viewers who prefer video over reading texts because they find it easier.
But then there are the rest of us who can skim through a text quickly to see if we want to read it more closely. And when reading it more closely, can still read and process the text faster than a video.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who don't like to write. Who find it easier to create a video. Or they are in that group who prefer watching videos over reading. So they don't necessarily get it.

Well, this sure does. Controversial opinion warning!
"Everything" is pretty broad to be anything like a meaningful equivalance, isn't it. Admitting it is clickbait is a start.

This is rather disingenuous. The problem is the (lack of a decent) written introduction, not the presence of video.Stukas Audio wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 6:56 pm After ... the criticism on the logic of producing a video instead of writing out my ideas, I was about to give up. Like most forum etiquette, it comes down to respecting the value of other people's time.
e.g. writing clearly takes a little longer at your end and is much easier for everyone who comes along.
When asking for help, people should outline what they have already tried and show some evidence that they investigated independently.
In this vein, one can write a few more words when posting a video link so that people do not feel tricked into wasting time on something that does not really appeal to their interests. Sampling is a broad topic.

To each their own. I appeal to viewers that want to listen to "my opinion about sample players and virtual instruments", as I "outlined" in the introduction of this thread.cel4145 wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 8:23 pmSo I guess you made the choice to only appeal to viewers who are willing to take the chance on clickbait. That is your prerogative.Stukas Audio wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 6:47 pmAh, the excitement and surprise of what one finds within might be better for the people.imrae wrote: Sat Mar 12, 2022 11:51 amThis is rather clickbait-y. Had I outlined my ideas in the post, I might as well have written an article and refrained from producing a video. As for clickbait, I think the outline I gave, and the title, were fulfilled in the video. No? Nowadays, everything seems to be clickbaity.

As for forum etiquette: Your written views about the semantics of written vs video mediums contradict the forum etiquette you advocate by wasting the audience's time that might be interested in the subject of this thread.

In the beginning, I thought it might be an interesting channel. But then the pompous, self-confessing, imposter syndrome-afflicted, overzealous antics kicked in and I thought to myself: Better create a youtube channel as well.

I salute you. Criticism is criticism. I criticize aspects of the industry that I find disingenuous, and I, therefore, must accept criticism as well. The reward I receive from some finding value in my videos is worth the risk of being criticized.Maxwell Houser wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 8:36 pmInspired by your videos, I have gone back to finish editing a multisampled instrument I lost the will to finish before. Multisampling will come later in my videos. After going through the basic but very powerful features of samplers and Kontakt. Multisampling is where it gets really interesting.

Yes, but people who don't know you are less likely to want to listen to your "opinion" unless you forecast what that opinion is.Stukas Audio wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 11:24 am To each their own. This is a common rhetorical technique, for good reason.
