EMM Knagalis - Making New Sound Sets ?

Has anyone managed to get Knagalis to recognize new combos?
If so could you explain how....I've followed the instructions but no joy.

Also, is it possible to get Knagalis to recognize the sounds for Eve - the factory bank & SQ1 ?

let's start with an example,

what files do you want to use in Knagalis?

I was interested in trying to make a flute-like sound in Knagalis because I like the Alterne mode, and the ethnic tunings, so maybe some of the Eve sounds:
the MS20 triangle;
the Ethnic flute sound from HQS1;
and a bit of white noise ?
OR combining any of the EMM sounds as Drone and Sympathetic, with something form Eve as the lead?

When I try to make my own combos (with Eve or Knagalis sounds) I number the new sound 100 (and above as instructed), and something does appear in the sound-set list in Knagalis BUT its name is only one character long (eg 'TQ' (my initials) becomes 'Q'), and clicking on it does nothing.

ok, we have some issues
to see,

1) there's an error in the instruction,
sorry for that, 100 is the max number if set for Knagalis currently,
so please use a lower number up to
"99-New instrument" as name for new folders,
better to use an high number anyway so you have room
for new sets to be released

2) the 3 files inside a new folder must be renaned
drone.DASHsnd
mains.DASHsnd
symp.DASHsnd
but this you already knew

3) drone.DASHsnd can be played as fixed pitch layered
with the other sound or in splited keyboard mode,

for a flute sound this could be the air noise
but it will not be affected by velocity

mains.DASHsnd is the main mono voice, but attack
envelope must be already shaped in the sample,

symp.DASHsnd this is the polyphonic layer,
but release is alway quite long by default

4) Knagalis is not suited for wind instruments,
where LeSax was designed exactly for those,
if fact you have a flute instrument too in LeSax


5) if you don't have LeSax you can still make a simple flute with Knagalis, using a flute like sound
.DASHsnd for mains.DASHsnd and any other for
symp.DASHsnd and drone.DASHsnd which you may keep
at volume zero or add them for special effect:
E.G. flute with Tampura drone and soft resonance of sitar

I suspected that might be the case with envelopes - oh well.

Thanks for the advice about the sax mod, but I was hoping for something a bit earthier than a standard flute.......I'll check out the demo.

So are you putting some new soundsets together for Knagalis?.....sounds interesting, what will they include?

Hey I just heard about this synth today as I was getting ready to buy some ethnic samples. Is this a good alternative for an ethnic sample CD? particularly with strings and winds.

Well it's great for plucked instruments - sitars, ouds, lutes etc and some percussion - thumb pianos, gamelan for instance, but (so far) the only wind instruments are bag-pipes and Portugese gaida.
A very interesting VSTi nontheless - quite unique, and adds an instant mystique to your playing.
