Tommy, the "external audio editor" preference is for windows only. On mac you have to:
* "Start editing" audio file in MuLab (makes the audio file avail for other apps)
* Open the audio file yourself in your prefered audio editor
* Save your changes in the audio editor
* "Stop editing" audio file in MuLab (will update MuLab to changes in audio file)
* "Start editing" audio file in MuLab (makes the audio file avail for other apps)
* Open the audio file yourself in your prefered audio editor
* Save your changes in the audio editor
* "Stop editing" audio file in MuLab (will update MuLab to changes in audio file)

When I "start editing" and open my external editor . . . I can't find how to get the audio file into the editor. It is not automatically in there and I don't see how to copy and paste.

Yes.
MuLab does not open your editor, or open the audio file in that editor for you.
You need to open that audio file in your editor, edit it, and save it, as I describe in my previous post.
Then when you End Editing, it updates that audio file.
Just try it

I appreciate the help and patience. How can I open the file in my external editor? Do I need to find the folder when the raw file is saved or can I somehow drag and drop, cut and paste or other to get the file into my external editor?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Yes, you need to know where the audio file is that you dropped into MuLab as a stream, and want to edit.tommyzai wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 1:56 am I appreciate the help and patience. It's best to first create a folder for a new MuLab project, and put all your audio files into that folder. As Young Guru said, "File management is the key to success."
Then, from that folder in Finder, most audio editors allow you to Open, drag/drop and cut/paste a file.

Okay, got it. Thanks fellas. It's not a very convenient/fast feature, but it's still better than some other DAWs that do not have the "start editing" and "stop editing" feature that auto updates the file.

It's fast and convenient if you keep your editor and project folder open. As Young Guru said...tommyzai wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 2:07 am Okay, got it. Thanks fellas. Then just drop the file in the editor and away you go.
It's stable, avoids MacOS compatibility issues, and reliably works with all audio editors including complex ones with separate windows and menus for audio editing (like I use).
