Indeed, the promo video says it uses 75% of the CPU on average, but the various alternative audio engines in 11 used different amounts of CPU, so I'm wondering if this number pertains to the standard audio engine.

Am I right to assume that there's no problem in installing the V12 demo alongside 11.5?

no problems for me so far.

CPU performance is better, pretty much as claimed. That's a very welcome improvement.

I am using a very old computer, a Q6600 from 2007 with 4gb of RAM in windows 10 64, and everything in 12 is faster than in 11.5 by a huge margin.

I have tested a couple of plugins* that caused WF11 to crash or had issues and WF12 so far is running them just fine.

* bx_crispytuner (VST version) and Axon2 (VST3 version)

I still see the bug where some VST3 plugins have one parameter automatically mapped to any CC data.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Thanks for the reports! I’ll get the demo and do some tests. REAPER’s MIDI quirks are bumming me out 🙁

WF12 wiped out all of WF11's edit previews. This has been the case for other upgrades, too. I hate it.

Quick reminder or for those not aware:

Do make sure that you don't open any existing edits in WF12 if you later plan on going back to WF11 with them. Newer Waveform will open older edits, but when saved, they are no longer compatible with older Waveform.

Hello everybody,
is Waveform Free based on Waveform 12 already released and possible to registrate?
or is it still Waveform Free 2021 based on version 11 ....
Thanks in advance and have a great day!

How does 12 Free compare to 11 Pro?

Post

Well, Waveform 11 Pro is of course more feature rich, so is 12 Pro.

I have one issue so far. Before I continue, I'd like to suggest to anyone interested, that this may be an issue related only to my particular studio and the controllers/interfaces I use. I'm talking specifically about my TrapKAT drum controller interfacing with my Motu Midi Express 128 into a computer running Waveform 11 or 12 (I've left out other specifics as I cannot produce the effect in other DAWs and/or the other details are outside of the "midi signal chain," as it were). The problematic midi output seems the same in either version: a kind of a midi-hiccup when playing buzz strokes on pads on the TrapKAT controller. This is midi based and definitely not audio. Now, I am not much of a drummer, but my buzz strokes are absolutely disgusting and unusable in Waveform. Is this a big deal? On one level not at all. As I often use buzz stroke samples when I play rolls rather than the single samples that produced this uneven effect (usually through BFD; there are some amazing snare drums available in BFD), it would rarely be a hassle, and when writing electronic music, buzz stroke rolls are really almost a moot point. OTOH, I am concerned that the data is missing and I wonder if other data is being thinned out or hiccupped. Again, this issue isn't reproduced in any of the other DAWs I have on my computer, so I'm sure that this is not related to my relative weakness as a percussionist.

When I watched the new presentation video and heard the colour editor was back, I jumped up with so much excitement that my head almost made a hole into the (high-ish) ceiling.
I immediately downloaded W12, opened it and... the “colour editor“ turned out to be the biggest anticlimax of the year so far. Unless I'm missing something, this is a bit of a joke, and certainly nowhere near the T2-6 colour editors that allowed you to customise every single aspect of Tracktion.

For those complaining about the new pricing, it's common knowledge that Waveform has been woefully underpriced for YEARS. Now that additional content is being added (the Rompler, Drum sampler, BassOSC, etc.), the price hike seems warranted. And if you check your email, there's a discount code for 20% off through March 28. Paying $79.20 for the upgrade was a no-brainer to me.

...and don't forget the DAW Essentials Collection. Although I don't need any new ordinary EQ, reverb, or delay, nor a rompler, I can understand it's important to include those into the DAW by default. But I also agree with those who own the collection already, they're upset to pay for it again.
Tracktion upgrades are always a no-brainer to me too :-D
